She pouts, looking up at me from under her lashes.

“What?” I chuckle.

“I just really want you,”

“I know, Princess, but not tonight.”

I hand her a water bottle, instructing her to drink it. To drink it all. Every single last drop.

She salutes me, twisting the top off before guzzling it in one go. I give her another one.

“I’m going to be peeing for half the morning,” she mumbles.

“It’s a private plane. You can spend as much time as you want in the bathroom.”

Her eyes snap to mine, a grin spreading across her lips slowly.

“We’re not having sex on the plane,” I tell her, letting her down easy.

She rolls her eyes, slumping in her chair.

“Do you want food? Coffee?”

She tells me she’s just fine, laying her head on the counter.

“Hey,” I say to get her attention. Her eyes flash to mine, and I sit down next to her, laying my head down next to hers. “You know I want you. I just don’t want the first time together to be when you’re shitfaced, and I’m stone-cold sober, okay?”

Her eyes are glassy as she nods, letting out a big sigh.

“Everything alright?”

She shakes her head, worry lines appearing across her forehead. “I’m worried about this trip,” she says.

“What about it?”

“I don’t know. It doesn’t feel good. I feel like something bad is going to happen, but I’m not sure what.”

I’m not sure what, either. It should be fairly cut and dry. We’ll also have the Texas compound to hide out in. The guys there are lethal.

Running my fingers through her hair, I kiss her forehead. “It’s going to be okay.”

“What are we going to do after the meeting?”

I think about it for a second. “We’re going to take over the company and burn it to the ground,” I tell her honestly.

“No, I mean with us. What’s going to happen with us.”

I bite my lip. “That’s entirely up to you, Syd.”

She nods, her eyes fluttering shut for a couple moments.

And I’ve seen enough. Scooping her up in my arms, I carry her up to my room, laying her in bed as I pull out my suitcase, packing half of it with her things and half with mine.

What I didn’t tell her is that I’m also worried about this trip. This is a big mission, and a lot relies on how this goes. We both need to impress the board while also somehow convincing them that we’d be a better fit than Jeffrey.

And then we have to take care of Jeffrey.

Although her parents wanted her to take over if she was married, there are rules in place to make that as hard as possible. Naturally.
