"Insults aren’tgoing to do it, Chantelle. Keep reasonable hours, or I’ll beforced to step in."
"Now, all of asudden, you care?" She sneered.
"I always did."He told her softly. Before she could move, he captured her chin, hisfingers like steel. “Now, it’s even more powerful. Yousaid you hated my touch, but that isn’t true, is it?"
"Please-"
"Please, what?'Kiss me? Stay away from me?'"
"Stay away fromme."
"Not going tohappen, darling." His head swooped down, and he seized her lipsroughly. Her resistance ebbed away, and she found her lips parting.His tongue darted inside her mouth, and he could feel the familiarmadness taking over. How he’d longed for this!
The kiss gentled, hishands going around her neck, fingers pressing against her throat in agentle caress. Her pulse was leaping like a frightened bird corneredby a large and dangerous prey. Her nipples were incredibly sensitiveand immediately became as hard as rocks.
Kenji felt himselfharden, the blood boiling inside him. He’d been waiting, makingsure she was safe. He’d seen the man's hands on her and hadfelt the violence surfacing. He’d wanted to hurt the guy fordaring to touch her. He was going to protect her from everything, nomatter her resistance.
Somehow, she foundthe strength to push him away, her breathing ragged, her bodytrembling. He’d aroused something fierce inside her, but shecouldn’t and wouldn’t be pulled back in.
"Stay away fromme." She whispered.
"Not a chance inhell." He cupped her face, eyes fierce. "You belong to me."With that explosive statement, he kissed her roughly before steppingback. "I’ll wait until you leave."
"Go to hell."
"Already there."He told her grimly.

She slammed into thehouse and took off her jacket. She was so riled up; she couldn’tstand still. How dare he dictate to her. 'You belong to me.' Thenerve of the man. Did he think he could just waltz back into her lifeas if the last four months or so didn’t matter? Shaking herhead, she made her way upstairs. How dare he kiss her like that!
He was going to talkto Kane about her hours. She wasn’t employed by him. Kickingoff her shoes, she sat on the edge of the bed, her body vibrating.She wasn’t going to start anything with him. She’d madethe mistake of allowing him privileges, and look what happened? She’dbe a fool to believe he’d changed.
He was justsweetening her up because she was carrying his child. Her stomachjumped as she recalled the scene in the parking lot. He’d beenso swift.
One minute, Carl wasgripping her arms, and the next, he was sent flying. Carl was bulky,but it was more flesh than muscle. Kenji was lean and toned, andshe’d heard he was an expert in martial arts.
"Oh, God."She whispered, pressing her hand against her stomach. "I can’tstill love him. That would be the height of insanity." Closingher eyes, she flopped back on the bed wearily. He wasn’t goingto stay away. That much was obvious.
What did she feelabout that? He’d made it plain he wanted to be involved, and,in all honesty, she couldn’t stop him. She was carrying hischild, and he wasn’t some ordinary Joe. He was Kenji Lee, heirto a fortune. He belonged to a powerful family, and there was no wayshe’d ever be able to fight him.
Did she want to? Shewondered wearily. Maybe not, but she wasn’t going to be draggedback into having anything to do with him physically.
That would be purelunacy and history repeating itself. Touching a hand to her lips, shefelt her body vibrating as the emotions washed through her. One thingwas certain, the feelings were still there, and at the touch of hishand, he could turn her into a puddle.
She was going to haveto keep him at arm's length from now on. However difficult that mightprove to be.
Chapter 13
She knew the momentshe was summoned what it was all about.
"Are you okay?"Kane moved from around his desk as soon as she entered.
"I’m fine.It's no big deal."
"From what Iunderstand, Carl was out of control." He sat on the edge of hisdesk and crossed his arms over his chest.
