“Let me rinse these, and we can move on to the asparagus portion of the meal.”

Holly frowned before heading around to mess with her phone. Declan thought she was turning it off, but then she moved the entire ring light to the other side of the oven.

“Need a better angle?” he asked.

“I guess you could say that.” Holly removed the cutting board and knife and hopped up onto the counter, crooking her finger at him.

He leaned against the opposite counter, arms crossed over his chest. He wasn’t worried about being on camera because he trusted Holly to respect his wishes and delete it.

“What do you want?”

“Seven minutes in heaven?”

“I thought we weren’t going to do this.”

Holly shrugged. “I figured what’s the harm in kissing? People are going to talk regardless once they find out you’re living here.”

“You’re probably right.”

“Then why not enjoy ourselves and forget the rest of the world for a while.”

Declan chuckled. “The asparagus takes ten minutes, plus I have to make the sauce.”

“And the potatoes take fifteen to twenty, correct?” Holly reached down to the bottom of her green sweater and pulled it over her head, tossing it across the room. She sat there in the tiniest tank top he’d ever seen, showing off more skin than covering it, and his mouth went completely dry. She crooked her little finger again and Declan dropped his arms and crossed the room, placing his hands on the counter on either side of her thighs.

“We’ve got at least seven minutes,” she murmured, “but only if you stop talking.”

“I don’t know what you have in mind, but I guarantee what I want to do to you is going to take longer than that.”

Holly wrapped her arms around his neck, and he let her pull him in close. “Let’s see who’s right.”

Declan didn’t have a chance to respond before her lips covered his. He didn’t think about how they shouldn’t be doing this, that he should step back and keep things professional until he’d decided his next move. But kissing Holly was too sweet, her hands gliding over his shoulders and arms leaving trails of heat in their wake.

He stepped into her, deepening the kiss, his body flush against hers. Declan’s hands came up to tangle in her hair, and her palms gripped his waist, drawing him even closer to her body.

The sound of a trilling alarm broke the moment and Declan looked toward the oven. “There’s still fifteen minutes left on the oven timer.”

“It’s my phone,” Holly said breathlessly. “I set an alarm to go off in seven minutes.” She gave him a hard, fast kiss before pushing him back so she could jump down. “I warned you we were going to run out of time if you didn’t stop talking. Now, I believe we have just enough time to finish dinner.”

“And what about after dinner?” Declan asked, shaking with laughter. “Are you going to give me another limited time slot?”

“Depends.”

“On what?”

“Do I get dessert?”

You are dessert, Elf, he thought. “I’ll give you one bite for every kiss.”

Holly shot him a sexy smile. “Now that sounds like fun.”

Declan’s phone buzzed in his pocket, and he glanced at the screen, seeing a group chat text message.

Five days until the bachelor party! Who’s ready to partay?

Declan didn’t recognize the number, but the next message he knew was from Nick because he had it saved in his phone.

I’m ready! Just leave the tattoo gun at home. I don’t need to wake up with something embarrassing permanently left on my body.
