“Yeah, Fish,” Noel said loudly, to which Pike flipped her the bird.

“And since tonight is all about Merry and Clark, they will be the focus of our trivia game.” A few groans erupted, but Holly couldn’t tell who did it so she ignored them and continued. “When Nathaniel delivers us to our pit stop, I will hand you a task list, which will be different from everyone else’s on the bus. Your mission is to finish the tasks and be back within the time frame or you’ll have to pull a dare card. Are we ready?” Everyone cheered and whooped. “Good, now give Nathaniel your full attention so we can seriously get this party started.”

Holly sat down in the only empty space, next to Sally, who didn’t say anything to her as Nathaniel went over his speech again about safety.

“I’m going to get a drink, do you want something?” Sam asked, standing over the two of them.

Holly shook her head. “No, I’m good.”

“Sally?” She perked up when he said her name, and he waved his hand. “Want a drink?”

“Oh, I’ll go with you!” Sally said, getting up from the bench, and Holly caught the pained expression on Sam’s face before he headed toward the back without waiting, Sally trailing behind Sam, talking a mile a minute despite Nathaniel still speaking on not trashing his bus.

Declan leaned over, the brim of his ball cap brushing her hair. “You look nice.”

Holly glanced down at her low-cut brown sweater and blue jeans, smiling. “Thank you. I like the cap. I haven’t seen you in one since the summer.”

Declan chuckled. “I only wear them when I need a haircut.”

“I like your hair. Gives me something to hold onto when we—” Declan’s eyes widened at her pause, and she continued, “kiss.”

Declan grinned. “Such a tease.”

“Well, you know that’s not true.”

He rested his mouth next to her ear. “You have no idea how badly I want to kiss you right now.”

It was on the tip of her tongue to tell him to do it already, but she didn’t want to challenge him. For the first time in her life, she wasn’t in a hurry. The faster they went, the sooner their time together would be over, and Holly wasn’t ready to stop yet.

Instead, she replied, “I can’t wait to get you alone. I was so tempted to cheat and pull your name, but my integrity won.”

“Sam seemed excited to partner with you.”

There was something in Declan’s voice that drew her attention, and she thought about what Ryan had said about her and Sam. Was Declan jealous? And if so, what did that mean for the two of them?

Before she could ask him, Nathaniel finished his safety speech and pointed at Sam, who was taking a drink from Mona the bartender.

“Sam back there is going to take over the party helm and run the trivia game while I get behind that wheel. So stop hitting on my woman, son, and do your job!”

“Hang on!” He downed the contents of the plastic cup and tossed it into the garbage can. “Now I’m ready.”

Holly laughed, watching Sam take the seat next to her while Sally squeezed in on his other side instead of sitting with Declan. Holly thought that was rude to do to someone but wasn’t going to tell Sally that.

Sam retrieved a piece of paper from his pocket and opened it with a flourish, clearing his throat loudly. “Question number one: Where did Merry and Clark have their first kiss?” Sam’s eyes traveled around the group, finally settling on Declan. “Declan?”

Declan stiffened next to her. “Yeah?”

“Care to take a guess where Clark and Merry shared their first kiss?”

Holly covered her mouth with her hand to hide her smile as Declan looked around for help, finally offering, “I don’t know, man. That’s kind of personal. Her porch?”

“Wrong. Holly? Do you want to take a stab at it?” Sam asked.

“Clark’s house.”

Sam arched one eyebrow. “Which room?”

“Wow, that specific, huh? His?”
