A hearty laugh exploded from his lips. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d laughed so hard at someone else’s expense.

“Good. I always aim to please.” Releasing her, he stood up, running a shaky hand through his hair. “What you need is water, and a banana for potassium. Do you have any?”

“Yeah—”

Not waiting for her to finish, he headed toward the kitchen. He had to get away from her before he did something crazy, like pull her up from the couch and kiss her.

Grabbing a banana off the counter, he opened her fridge and pulled out a bottle of water.

He blew out a deep breath, trying to will his cock to calm the fuck down, which made him chuckle. It wouldn’t do him any good to help his sexy neighbor with his cock drilling its way through his pants.

“You really don’t have to do this,” she said as he entered the living room.

Handing her the banana, he took a seat on the coffee table in front of her. “What kind of neighbor would I be?”

When she smiled, he noticed a small dimple in her right cheek.

There was no way he could watch her bite into the banana. It would only lead his thoughts down a slippery slope to see her place the tip of the fruit between her lips…

He looked around the room instead, taking in the decor. Her apartment was tastefully decorated in warm, inviting colors, giving off the homey vibe his was devoid of. The condo wasn’t his primary home, but it allowed him to be close to work and all the things he loved about Cleveland.

He’d bought a home in the suburbs when he first moved to Northeast Ohio, but it was massive, and he felt alone when it was just him.

It was meant for a family—a husband, a beautiful wife, and children.

“Lived in Cleveland long?” he asked, focusing back on her. Watching her set the empty peel down on the couch, he twisted the cap off the bottled water and handed it to her.

Nodding, she took a sip and told him, “I know you moved in a few months ago. Sorry I haven’t been over to introduce myself.”

“Don’t worry about it.” He stood and walked over to a picture hanging on the wall that caught his attention. It was a beautiful abstract painting with bold colors. “Wow. This is beautiful.”

“Thanks. I got it from a starving artist auction a couple of years ago.”

“Art buff?” Glancing over his shoulder, he found she had tucked her legs underneath her as she watched him.

“A little. Cleveland has a phenomenal art museum I like to go to.”

“Maybe we can go together sometime.” The words had spilled out before he even knew he was going to say them.

“Sure. We can do that one day.”

He strode around, taking in all her photos of friends and family before making his way back over to her.

“All better?”

“Yes. Listen, I’d like to repay you for your help—”

“No need—”

“Do you like lasagna?”

He froze in place.

Could this gorgeous woman cook too?

“Who doesn’t?”

“I make a mean lasagna, if I say so myself. I can bring you a plate to show you my appreciation before you go out tonight.”
