“What do you do when you’re not working?”

“I go out, but never took advantage of what’s nearby.”

“Well, there are some great restaurants too. I’ve tried almost all of them at least once,” Alana boasted. She had made it her mission to try each restaurant within walking distance. There were so many ethnic places to eat that one could think they were in a different country each night of the week.

“We’ll have to try a few of them,” he murmured, stepping closer.

“That would be fun.”

When his cell phone rang, he pulled it out of his pocket and sent it to voicemail. It had been ringing all throughout the day, but he’d ignored it, giving all his attention to her.

He’d made her the center of his attention for the entire day, and that was rare.

She was always competing with video games when she and Danny were together. That had been the last straw for her with that relationship.

But London was different.

It was nice to have someone who listened to her, laughed at her corny jokes, and wanted to get to know her. She didn’t want this day to end.

“You sure you don’t want to get that?”

“Nah, I’m good. It felt nice to ignore work and the world for a day.” He slid his phone back into his pocket and shook his head. “Jaxon has been getting on my case about not taking a day off.”

“Jaxon’s your brother, right?” she asked, tilting her head back against the door. He had moved closer to her, leaving only inches between them.

“Yup. Younger, and he thinks he can boss me around.”

“I hear siblings are always a pain in the butt.”

Not that she knew from personal experience. She was an only child, but had plenty of cousins and friends growing up. Sofie was one of four kids, and her stories of her siblings always kept Alana entertained.

“Can’t kill them, can’t live without them.” Resting his hand on her shoulder, he trailed it down to her hand. “It would seem tonight, it would be my turn to provide dinner.”

“But you bought our breakfast.”

It was obvious he didn’t want the day to end, either. Warmth flooded her at the thought of him enjoying her company as much as she did his.

“That can’t compare to the dinner you cooked.” His smile disappeared. “Why don’t you come over. You can pick the movie, and I’ll order pizza.”

Dinner and a movie? It was official. Today had been a date.

“That sounds good. I just need to drop these inside and freshen up a bit.”

She wasn’t going to take a chance that dinner and a movie might go a little further.

She had to be prepared.

His eyes darkened as he kissed her lips. “Don’t take too long.”

“I won’t. Ten minutes?”

He stepped back and grinned. “I’ll start the clock.”

Unlocking her door, she walked inside and closed it behind her. Suddenly feeling weak in the knees, she rested her back against it.

Her heart pounded in excitement. Pushing off the door, she rushed toward her bedroom and tossed her things onto the bed. Kicking off her shoes, she flew over to her closet.

“Does Netflix and chill really mean sex?” she muttered aloud.
