"I was serious," I mutter. "What the hell are you doing here?"

"I'm entitled to be here," he says. "I paid the deposit on this place. So color me surprised when I found out the tour was still on."

I scowl at him. "Maybe I was planning a breakup party."

"You have to give me a chance to explain everything, Jenny," he says. "I was just--"

"So this is obviously where the ceremony would be held if you want it indoors," Sarah interrupts, though I don't think she could hear our conversation. She gestures at a big, curved ceiling and a beautiful dancefloor. "It's decorated for another wedding tonight--but we would talk about the colors and style you two want."

I nod numbly, my head spinning as I try to process everything. Steven's presence throws me off my game, making it harder for me to focus on the task at hand.

"What colors are you thinking?" Sarah asks with a kind smile.

"Um...green," I blurt out. "Green and pink."

Finn would look great in them, but Steven hates those colors.

I shoot him a glare.

As we continue the tour, my mind wanders to Finn. I wonder what he would think if he knew Steven was here. Would he be jealous? Would he want to confront Steven? Or would he be understanding and trust me to handle the situation on my own?

I shake my head, trying to clear my thoughts. I don't want to think about Steven anymore. I need to focus on my future with Finn.

"So, what do you think?" Sarah asks, her voice snapping me out of my thoughts.

I look around the barn, picturing Finn and I standing at the altar, surrounded by our loved ones. It feels right.

"I love it," I say, a small smile tugging at the corner of my lips. "This is where I want to get married."

My mom grins, while Steven looks completely and utterly confused.

"Do you want to reserve a date right now?"

"I think we need some time to think about it," Steven says, right at the same time that I say, "Yes."

His eyes widen.

"What are you doing?" he hisses.

"Um...maybe you should think about it?" Sarah says.

"Jenny, stop," Steven starts, reaching toward me.

But my mom is stepping between us, and Sarah is putting her hands up in shock and confusion. "What is going on here?" Sarah asks.

"Jenny can't set a date," Steven says. "Because she told me she doesn't want to marry me, andI'mthe one who's paying for this place."

"Actually, her father and I are paying for it," Mom says. "And she's not marrying you--you lying, cheating, good-for-nothing--"

I cut her off with a hand on her shoulder; I'venever, in my whole life, heard her talk like that.

"Let me," I say, preparing myself to explain to Sarah. "I'm not marrying Steven; I'm marrying Finn Carson."

"Finn?" Sarah asks. "Oh...I mean, you know he's part of the family--"

Of coursehe's part of the family. It seems like everyone's related in some way to the Harts. But Steven is just confused, staring in shock.

"Finn?" he says. "That guy you went to high school with? Is he...were you cheating on me?"
