“Where’s the others?” I demanded.

“Ezra’s being stitched up. The idiot took a straight-through in his arm. Apache received a graze from a stray bullet. He needs a few stitches on his forehead. Jett was the worst, a wound to the leg; Klutz has removed the bullet and is stitching him up. Everyone’s fine. Rage was hit hard,” Drake said.

A scream came from the trees, and I moved before thinking. That was Eddie. She’d been found. Drake was at my side in moments as we raced towards the treehouse. The sight that met my eyes would stay with me for life. The hatch was open, a Fang lay on the ground unconscious, and another gripped Davina by the leg. He was attempting to haul her through it while Eddie smashed him over the head with a book.

“Get your fuckin’ hands off my niece!” I roared and aimed and fired without thinking. The guy fell, nearly dragging Davy through the hatch. Drake leapt at the tree and caught her as she tipped through. He buried her face in his shoulder and raced her towards Lindsey.

“That A-hole dead Mama Phoe?” Eddie called, peering at me.

Dear God, what were our kids being raised as? A pain flowed into my heart as I thought of what her innocent eyes were seeing. Eddie spat at the guy before leaping down into my arms. She was freaking heavy now, and I staggered with her but carried her away all the same.

“They were gonna hurt us, weren’t they?” Eddie asked.

“Everything’s fine, baby girl,” Drake soothed, taking her from me and rubbing her back.

“Of course it is. Mama Phoe was out there kicking ass. And you came too, Daddy, you always will,” Eddie said with sheer faith in her father.

Drake swallowed hard, and I saw how her words moved him.

“Always angel. I’ll always be here for you,” Drake promised.

“Can we go play now, Daddy? The bad men are all dead?” Eddie asked.

“Sure, kid. Let’s find some shit to get into,” Drake replied, carrying Eddie off.

Lowrider followed with Davina. Lindsey and I exchanged glances that spoke volumes.

Chapter Six.

Phoe

“Serenity is hunting,” I said, looking around.

“We’ll find her,” Ace guaranteed.

“She’s in Street Serenity mode. Nobody should approach her. And we don’t have Tye and Carmine to bring her back,” I worried, biting my lip.

“Phoe, we’ll ensure Serenity’s fine,” Texas promised.

“No need, I’m perfect, thank you. However, there is a mess near the Ewok Village that needs clearing up, and I would prefer Rage to do so,” Serenity said, stepping out behind us.

I took a step towards her and then paused. Serenity stared at me coldly, and I realised she was still in her street persona.

“We don’t have Tye or Carmine. Harley is on his way,” I replied, fully aware Street Serenity hated to be touched. In her hand was a knife glistening with blood.

“Sorry, Uncle Texas, I did make a mess,” Serenity stated, staring at Texas, who flinched at the look in her eyes. Nobody moved. Finally, Serenity stepped towards Texas and handed him the knife backwards. Texas gingerly took it from her, and then Serenity spun on me and launched herself into my arms.

“It’s okay, baby,” I exclaimed, soothing her and stroking her hair and back.

“Of course it is. Those fuckers won’t harm our family,” Serenity growled. She pulled away, and I was relieved to see Street Serenity receding.

“We need to get cleaned up before the Hellions are released,” Artemis declared.

“Totally agree, you guys and security clean up, and we’ll get ready for the party,” Lindsey said.

Lowrider gaped at her.

“You’re kidding?” He gasped.
