"Come here," he instructs.

I step closer, feel his hands slide up the back of my thighs, over my bare cheeks, along the tiny strings holding the triangular patch of red in place along my hips.

His thumbs float over my abdomen, a burning trail of need and desire and hunger explodes across my stomach.

His movements slow as he finds the lacy red thong, dips his fingers into it, maneuvers it down my legs. I step out, watch as his eyes drink in my feverish skin.

He climbs onto the bed, rests against the headboard. I follow and sit beside him as he rips open the condom wrapper, slides it on. I watch, mesmerized by how fast his fingers move over his hard, pink flesh. Then he's motioning for me to get on top of him.

I straddle him nervously, not sure what to do. His hands find my hips and he gently presses down. I lower myself onto him, my fingers finding his strong shoulders, my breasts smashing against his hard chest, my body stretching to accommodate him at this angle. His hands stay on my hips as he helps me get situated. When it doesn't feel uncomfortable anymore, I look down at our bodies pressed together. I shift a little, try to figure out how to move my hips, how to make sure I give him what he wants, what he needs, what I need.

When I glance up, see his chocolate brown irises barely visible around dark black pupils, my heart throbs recklessly in my chest.

Everything is effervescent. Fuzzy, glowing, gleaming.

Maybe that's why I don't bother thinking before my hand finds his cheek and I blurt out, "Kyle, I'm so in love with you."

Chapter 30

Silence.

As dead as the night.

Kyle's eyebrows knit together as my heart jackhammers in my chest. His hands rest on my back, a dull weight pulling me down, down, down.

Oh my god. He's not going to say it back.

I'm such an idiot.

Wait, do I want him to say it back?

No, not unless he wants to.

Why, why, why did I say it?

Kyle, I'm so in love with you.

More like, Kyle, I'm such a moron.

I swallow nervously, stare into his eyes, a sliver of chocolate around inky blackness.

Silently, I beg him to say something.

Anything.

The room becomes balmy and foggy, like the bathroom after I take a hot shower. I really need to open the door, let some cool air in, douse the suffocating steam billowing around us, stealing the breath from my lungs.

He doesn't blink, doesn't even move. Just stays frozen in place, keeps his eyes focused on my lips.

Ugh.

"Stop," Kyle finally utters as he leans forward, presses his lips firmly to mine, "freaking out." He kisses me again. There's a slight pause before he says, "I'm so in love with you, too."

I blink slowly a few times, try to figure out if I'm just imagining it or if he really just said it back.

"Jenny," he chuckles, the sound reverberating through my entire body, jolting me forward. "I love you."

I feel myself sag against him in relief. "Why did you take so long to respond?" I groan.
