“I’ll wait,” I said firmly, then lowered my head and kissed the uncertainty from her delectable mouth.

She blinked at me a couple of times after I lifted my head. But she agreed.

“You’re going home with Champion Valentine?” Jeremy’s brown eyes widened to the size of stage spotlights when I nodded to confirm.

“You know he also has sex with Mercedes,” he said gently while removing my lash extensions.

“Not anymore,” I told him with my eyes closed. A good thing, so he wouldn’t see how jealous I was of his best friend.

“Since when?” he asked. His gaze on mine in the dressing room mirror, he snapped out a couple of makeup wipes.

“Since tonight,” I said.

“He was the one in the private room waiting for you, not Zack,” Jeremy said, still studying me closely.

“Yes.” I nodded, then closed my eyes as he ran the wipes over my face.

“That’s a relief,” he mumbled. “Ally likes Zack.”

“Yeah, I know.” Though she repeatedly denied it.

“Do you think it’s wise to start up something with him so soon after he was with Mercedes?” he asked, and I opened my eyes.

“Probably not.”

Going with Champion tonight was unwise on so many levels. But I didn’t want to be wise if it meant I had to give him up again. He wanted me, even knowing what I did, and I wanted him. Of course I did. It was just one more night, and then I’d do what I needed to.

“Risky.” Jeremy tossed the wipes aside and grabbed a makeup wand.

I dropped my chin, knowing he was right. And losing my job wasn’t my only risk if Mercedes had any lingering feelings for Champion.

“You were in that private room with him a significant amount of time, darling.”

Jeremy tipped up my chin, and I had to look at him as he started reapplying my makeup, only subtler with just a little mascara, eye shadow, and lip gloss like I preferred.

“I would have stayed longer ...”

“You like him.” He capped the gloss and gave me an expectant look.

“Yes,” I said, but I wasn’t ready to tell Jeremy or anyone else about Saint Croix. That time, those memories, they were mine.

“He’s older than you.” Jeremy waggled his dark brows. “A lot older. Daddy range, my lovely.”

I was aware. Man, was I ever. “He’s experienced, certain of what he wants, and—”

“Hot as hell. I see the appeal.” He fanned his face with his hand. “He’s muscle-licious.” He pursed his lips. “Just be careful, Electra.”

Yeah, it was too late for that.

Champion

“YOU ORDERED A limo?” Electra asked. Her eyes widened as she stepped outside of Fantasy and toward the glossy black stretch idling in the front circle.

“Technically, the team paid for it.” I raked my hair back.
