Talking to him, sharing what had happened, had helped more than I could have imagined.

Champion Valentine wasn’t who I’d thought he was. He was much more than a handsome, talented professional athlete. There was a sensitive heart beneath his cocky exterior.

I didn’t know everything, but I understood that he was a man isolated by his circumstances and hurting after trauma and loss. During the short time we’d spent together, I had already become addicted to the way he made me feel ... like I wasn’t entirely fucked up.

Casual sex with Champion wasn’t casual. There were strings that wouldn’t be easy to untie.

“I’ll call room service.” His towel clinging to his ass, he headed to the phone on the nightstand, his glutes flexing.

“They stop serving at ten p.m.,” I told him, staring at his ass.

“Fuck.” He set down the receiver and shifted to look at me.

It was well past ten. Technically, it wasn’t even night anymore. Not that I minded being up late. I was a night owl because of my job.

But I minded each hour that brought us closer to the morning. Strings or no strings, casual or not, this couldn’t be more than a one-night fling. And time was running out.

“It’s a shame.” I swallowed to loosen my tight throat. I could practically hear a clock winding down. “They have really good applewood bacon and pancakes with mango compote.” Disappointed in more ways than one, I scrunched my nose.

Keep it light, Electra. Keep it casual.

“But maybe we could go out,” I said.

“I don’t want to go out. That would be too far away from this bed.” He glanced at it, then back to me. “That would mean sharing you with others outside this room. I want you all to myself.”

I didn’t want to leave or share him either. But technically, I was sharing him right now.

He had a regular thing with my boss. It might not be serious. However, in all the time I’d worked for Mercedes, she hadn’t hooked up with anyone else. At least, not to my knowledge.

Why would she want anyone else? Three times, Champion had given me more pleasure than I’d ever known. Not that I had a whole lot of sexual experiences for comparison. The last guy I’d had sex with was one of only a few.

Sure, I’d had lots of offers, but Ally and I had a rule. We didn’t get involved with guys from the club. It never worked out. Jake Marvel, the Lonestars’ rookie receiver, included. He was handsome and had talked a good talk. I’d agreed to have sex with him, hoping he might help me get over my crush on Champion, but Jake wasn’t a marvel in the bedroom like he was on the field.

As a crush and after a one-night stand, Champion exceeded the hype. He wasn’t going to be easy to get over.

“Let me give something a shot.” Champion picked up the phone again. “This is Champion Valentine,” he said, his tone authoritative. “Yes, that Champion. I know it’s after hours, but I need two breakfast orders with pancakes and applewood bacon brought to room number 102. I’ll pay whatever it costs. Name your price.”

His blue gaze was on me as he spoke, glittering with intensity I could feel. Being his focus, I felt something flutter in my chest, and my body pulsed with desire like it always did.

“Awesome.” He nodded. “We’ll expect the food in forty-five minutes. I’ll pay with cash. Thank you.” He hung up.

Forty-five minutes wasn’t a lot of time, but it was time I didn’t want to waste.

“What do you want to do while we wait?” I asked softly and licked my dry lips.

“I want you back in that bed.” He closed the distance between us. “I want to eat you out, but I want to take my time.”

His words and the hot way he looked at me made my knees tremble. I latched onto his solid forearms. As I held on to him, his heat soaked into my skin first, then his scent filled my lungs, flooding me with desire.

Champion was the name of his signature cologne. It came in a green bottle. The notes of pine, leather, and mint were fainter on him after multiple showers, but it still tantalized. I shouldn’t, but I knew I was going to buy another bottle when I got home.

“I don’t mind a quickie,” I said breathlessly. Honestly, I wouldn’t be able to last long once Champion put his firm lips and talented tongue on me. Just imagining it, I pulled in a breath as my pussy quivered.

“I mind. Each time with you has been incredible. You are incredible, E.” His words wrapped around me, warm like his embrace. “I refuse to rush anything with you.”

“I can do you.” My gaze dipped. “Please, I want to. You denied me in the shower.”

Through the break in his towel, I caught a glimpse of his erection. Flames licked my skin, and my mouth went dry.
