“Fuck yes,” he growled out and rocked his hips into my center, giving me the hardness and friction I sought.

I wrapped my legs around his waist and held on as he strode away from the dance floor. He walked straight to the closest wall and pinned me to it.

“You taste so fucking good,” he said roughly, his lips hovering over mine. “Delicious and dazzling, fire and ice, a galaxy of stars on a crisp winter night.”

He plunged his hands into my loose hair and kissed me again.

This one became everything as he crushed his mouth to mine. A catalyst, an implosion, a combustive reaction. He took, but I gave. Our mutual need fueled the heat that blazed hotter and brighter. The darkness inside me yielded until he ripped his lips from mine.

Whimpering, I gripped strands of his hair and tried to pull him back. But I froze when I noted the man behind him. He placed one of his large hands on Champion’s shoulder.

“This isn’t that kind of club.” His expression broadcasting disapproval, the man shook his head. He was wearing a black T-shirt with bouncer spelled out in white letters.

“Right. My bad.” Champion swiped his tongue across his sculpted lips as if savoring my flavor. Unpinning me from the wall, he let me slowly slide down his rock-hard body.

I wasn’t fire and ice. I was heated butter melting. Liquid as my feet hit the floor, I crushed his silk shirt in my grip to stay upright.

“Champion.” I made his name a plea like hundreds of thousands of fans did when the game was on the line, and it was up to him to get his team to score.

“My place or yours?” he asked as the sparkling lights of the club danced over us.

When I didn’t immediately respond, he captured a strand of my hair. Tucking it behind my ear, his rough fingertips grazed the sensitive outer rim. Another erotic shiver rolled through me that made my hard nipples tingle and my swollen clit throb.

“Mine,” I said. There was no longer a question of where this was going. What he wanted, I wanted too.

One night. It was all I could allow. It wasn’t cautious, and it might not be right. But I was heeding Ally’s advice, though it would be different if she knew Champion was involved.

But this wasn’t about her. It was about doing something for me. It was about experiencing life again.

Too much of the time, I felt like I was dying.

I DROVE US to Electra’s hotel.

Exercising restraint, I observed the speed limit. But I had to touch her and reached for her hand as soon as she clicked her seat belt. I didn’t crush her fingers, but I didn’t let go either. I knew this wasn’t a date. She’d set the terms. It was casual, according to her. It just didn’t feel casual.

“You okay?” I asked.

After shutting off the engine, I glanced at her. In the passenger seat, she wore a pensive expression. I pressed my lips together. I didn’t like the idea that she might be having second thoughts about having sex with me.

“I’m fine.” She turned her head, her gaze meeting mine.

Those two words did not reassure me. Illumination from floodlights on the low building in front of the Jeep bathed her in light. She was beautiful, and I wanted her.

“Why do you ask?”

Watching her, I tilted my head. “You’ve been quiet since we left the club.”

If she was having doubts, I needed to know so I could remove them. This night was ending only one way ... with my cock inside her.

“There’s not much to say.” She shrugged. “Is there?”

There was a lifetime of information I wanted to know about her, but apparently, she didn’t share the same curiosity about me.

“Guess not.” I released her hand and pried my gaze away from her. Getting out, I rounded the hood and opened her door.

“Thank you.” She climbed out, her hip skimming mine as she gestured at the building. “This is me.”
