Page 52 of Making Her Theirs

“Baby sister.” He cups my chin, his serious eyes boring into mine. “Are you sure you know what you’re doing?”

I smile at him. Really smile because I do. I really do. “I’ve never been more sure of anything in my life.”

Another quick scan. “Okay. I’m here if you need me.”

My heart softens. “I know.” I lay a soft kiss against his smooth cheek. “Thank you, Colt.”

“It’s time,” my mom says, kissing my cheek. “You make me so incredibly happy, Georgia. I’m very proud of you. Marrying that gorgeous man and being part of his family. I can see how much his brothers care for you.”

I squeeze her hand because I’m about to cry again. Dad takes my elbow and guides me down the stairs. The wedding march plays softly on indoor speakers where our friends, my family, the celebrant, wait. I gasp when I see the three most beautiful men in matching kilts, a snowy white shirt under a waistcoat with what I’m guessing is a sporran, finished with long black socks and soft leather boots.

I cannot wait to find out later what they’re wearing underneath.

Romeo looks offended in his sparkly big red bowtie. His stumpy tail thumps when he looks at me. Juliet, rocking it in an Elvis white jumpsuit, sits regally on her pillow, one ear forever cocked, one floppy. I swear she gives me a doggie high-five.

Molly Whuppie opens one blue eye from where she’s curled up by the open fire, then closes it. She hasn’t made friends with Romeo and Juliet, but tolerates them, as this is her castle, so totally being a cat.

My eyes tear as I take in my three grooms. Knox is proud and possessive. Finn knows when I need a pick-me-up, gentle, and always makes my mood lift, and I him. Lachlan is quiet, always moving, but changed from when I first met him. He now has a confidence he lacked before. He doesn’t thrash in his sleep, but lays content with my head tucked into his shoulder.

All three step forward, their eyes sparkling.

My dad squeezes my hand.

We form a circle of four.

“I can’t believe it took me so long to find my home. You three are my home, not a house. You three are my bricks and mortar. You hold me together with your love and you bring utter joy into my life, every moment. I will be with you always.” I sniff.

Knox steps forward and mouths. “You’re beautiful, and I love you until death us do part.” He drinks me in, nods once then stands back.

Finn steps toward me and whispers in my ear. “I love you with every breath I take. You’ll be mine until the end of time. Can’t help falling in love with you.” He winks at me, as tears free fall down my face.

“I can’t believe you got three in,” I laugh.

He chuckles. “Been working on it all week, baby.” With a wink he steps back.

Lachlan steps forward and kisses my cheek. “I love you Georgia Presley Henry, with my heart and soul.”

“I love you.” My eyes swing between Knox, Lachlan and Finn.

Lachlan takes my hand and we face the celebrant and say our vows. A beautiful band with three interlocking branches intertwined is slipped onto my finger.

“There’s something I need to say.” Lachlan sweeps a tear from my cheek. “I once told you what I thought about love. Well, I’ve had some time to reflect, and I’ve written what it now means to me.” He takes both my hands.

“Love is light, freedom no bullet in the gun

Love is floating, fleeting, a lyric always sung

Love is Sunday mimosas, sandwiches, holding back your hair

Love is an Angel, algebra, knowing you’ll be there

You are my light, my sunshine, my singing in the rain

My forever, my lover, with you I’m born again

To be loved by you is an addiction, free-falling, making me reach higher

You are my want
