She needs to know they are all okay.

Callie makes it out of the trees and sprints to the house, flinging open the door and nearly falling into the kitchen floor. Raven is the only one standing in the kitchen.

She rushes over to Callie and reaches for her immediately, “Are you okay? I saw you running over. What happened?”

Callie puts her hands on either side of Raven’s face and presses their foreheads together, “I wanted to make sure you were okay.”

“I’m fine. I’m right here. What happened?” Raven asks, holding Callie’s hands to her face before pulling away.

“Em and Sam? Where are they?” Callie demands.

Raven holds Callie’s hands as she responds, “They’re in the spare room. I just got them settled in. They are safe. I promise.”

“How can you know that?”

“I cast protection over the house all day. I made sure everyone in this house was safe. I promise you, Callie. We’re all safe for now. Now, what happened?”

Callie feels the crushing weight of fear dissipate slightly and she let outs a tremendous sigh, “It was him, Ray. He was in the woods. He talked to me.”

Raven grabs Callie and pulls her in for a hug, “Callie, I’m so sorry. Are you okay?”

She never wants to let Raven go again. She could live in this hug. It feels like it used to feel, “Yes. I’m okay. I just… I didn’t process how it would feel for him to really be here again. I think I’ve just been telling myself that it was all a mistake. We would all show up here and in the morning Willow would show up and we would all laugh and go back to living our lives.”

That thought of going back to normal puts a damper on the hug for both of them. They loosen their holds on one another and lean back to look into each other’s faces.

She has to ask, “Raven, why?”

Callie sees Raven’s cheeks burn a deep red as she thinks over her answer. She knows Raven feels the intention of her question, “I just didn’t know how else to let you live your life.”

Callie doesn’t know for sure what that answer means and she knows it won’t fix anything, but in that moment the eyes looking back at her are the eyes that have loved her for so long. Callie doesn’t know if it’s the fear for their lives, the thrill of seeing each other for the first time post break up, or just the rush of adrenaline currently coursing through her veins, but she has to be with Raven. Right now. And somehow she knows Raven feels the same.

Without a second thought, they both pull the other close again and their lips collide. It is like fireworks. It is like the first kiss all over again.

“Should we go out there?” Sam whispers, voice full of caution.

Emily is peering through the tiniest crack in the door, looking for the slightest hint of animosity between the two ex-lovers, “Well, they’re talking so I’d say that’s a good thing, right?” Pushing her face closer into the crack for a better look, she gives the play-by-play, “Callie looks worried. Raven does too. Wait! They’re hugging!”

“No way! Really?” Sam exclaims as she slides across the floor and peers through the bottom of the cracked door, “Can you hear them?”

“No, they’re talking too quiet,” she says as she turns her head to place her ear in the crack now, “You watch. I’m going to try and listen.”

Sam gasps, “Oh snap! They’re making out!”

“What?!” Emily scrambles to put her eye back in the crack, “As soon as I looked away!”

In her haste to see the rekindled love connection, Emily trips over Sam causing them both to fall into the door, slamming it shut. The loud bang undoubtedly scared the kissing couple and the two spies squeal out in shock as they both tumble to the floor in a pile of limbs and guilt. They stare at each other in stunned silence for a long moment then burst into a fit of giggles, knowing they completely deserve what they got for being so damn nosey.

Sam snorts as she tries to regain her composure, “Pretty sure we just got exactly what we deserve.”

The women scramble back onto their feet and share a long look. In the same second, they both bolt back to the door and crack it open again, proving they learned absolutely nothing from being caught.

“They’re gone,” Emily moans in defeat.

Another shared look sends them running across the room as quietly as possible to press their ears up against the wall dividing their room from the lover’s room.

“I can’t hear anything,” Sam whines.

“Same…” Emily agrees.
