And god damn, those legs. They were long with tanned olive skin, and on full display in her short jean shorts. There was something about her. Something familiar in the way she carried herself, and I couldn’t deny the crackle of energy that was surging through my chest, just being near her.

Me and my friends? We could give that to her. A ‘no strings attached’ good time that she’d never forget.

“I’m so sorry,” she murmured, folding her hands over her chest. “I didn’t mean to be so rude. Those things I said on the phone… Did you hear them?”

I waved a hand to dismiss her worries. “I live with two other guys. Nothing we haven’t done before. I’m Parker, by the way.”

I kept my gaze on her, looking for any signs of reaction. I was curious if the knowledge that three men living together was of interest to her. She didn’t give me anything to go off. “You new in town or just visiting?”

“I just moved here a few weeks ago,” she said. “I actually bought that old bar off the highway. Going to fix it up.”

My brows raised, wondering if Shane knew this yet, and what he thought of it. We’d been looking at that land for a while, and I wondered why this woman’s bid was chosen over ours.

“Oh. That’s awesome. Right by Shane’s garage,” I said.

“You know Shane?”

Hmm. So she’d already met Shane. Interesting.

I wondered if that would be brought up, or if he was saving this gem all for himself. Shane never shared women with us, so if he met her and wanted her, he’d be keeping this meeting to himself. He wouldn’t want our dirty paws getting on her. That told me I should back off, but I knew I wouldn’t.

Not with her confessions ringing in my ear. She wanted to be shared, and I wanted to share her.

“Darling, this town is only so big. Won’t be long before you know everyone living here, too. But yeah, I know Shane. We all served in the Army together. Him and my roommates. You’ve met him, then?”

“Ahh,” she nodded, pushing her cart. “I met him this morning. He came over when I was taking inventory of the bar.”

“Really?” My tone was raised with surprise. Shane wasn’t one to introduce himself to others, so this was out of character for him, and yet another red flag on my radar.

She paused, shrugging. “Well, I don’t think he was really there to say hi to me. I caught him drooling over my ride.”

“Your ride?”

“‘69 Corvette Stingray.”

Oh, Christ. Fuck us. Shane’s soulmate just entered the picture. I knew I should back off. Knew that Shane would probably want her for himself. But the selfish asshole in me wouldn’t listen to the angel on my shoulder.

I let out a low whistle. “Yeah, that’ll get the wolf out of his den, for sure. How’d you get your hands on such a sick vintage?”

“My dad left it to me.”

“Oh. I’m sorry for your loss.”

She chewed on her bottom lip. “It’s fine. So, Parker. Are you from Georgia?”

“I’m not. I’m from California, but the guys and I moved here together a few years ago.”

“That’s cool that you stayed together.”

“Yeah, we’re pretty close.” I drummed my thumbs on the edge of the cart, silence falling onto us. Clearing my throat, I leaned forward to whisper so only she could hear. “Listen. The stuff you were talking about earlier?”

Her cheeks brightened again, and she darted her face away. I reached out, resting my hand over hers. My body tensed, enjoying the way her hand felt under mine. She was warm and sweet, and I caught a whiff of jasmine and oranges from her hair.

I pushed aside the warm, fuzzy feelings, leaning in so she could hear my whisper. “Don’t worry about it. I think you might be closer to finding what you want. You just have to know how to ask for it.”

She gasped, turning her head to get a good look at me while I straightened my spine.

Standing tall, I glanced down and winked at her. “Hey. Have you eaten?”
