Laney scooted herself back up on the couch and rested her back against the cap end of the back. Then she positioned herself so her ass was hanging just over the edge of the arm. And then she put my cock in place.

I started to push it into her pussy, but her hand stopped me. She scooted a bit more and lined me up with her asshole. I kissed her more deeply and penetrated her back door once again.

And a chorus from Heaven rang out for the two of us as we wrapped each other up in blissful euphoria.

“Court adjourned.”

The judge slammed the gavel down and quickly retreated out the door to his chambers.

I stood there stunned. I turned to my attorney Dave Watson and looked at him questioningly. “Did that just happen?”

“You bet it did.”

“Jack is mine?”

“Jack is yours.”

I hugged Dave close to me ignoring his handshake. “Yes! You are a genius. Way to go.”

“Just doing my job, my friend,” Dave said.

“You’re the best. I can’t thank you enough.”

“No thanks necessary. This had to be done. Justice went the right way today.”

“You won’t get away with this! You bastard!”

Tiffany was screaming from across the aisle. Her attorney and a bailiff were trying to restrain her from leaping across the aisle to get Dave and me. Wow, she was pissed.

It had been two weeks since she’d made the first phone call to Laney. That had set in motion a chain of events. After I told her to stay away from Laney, Tiffany got triggered of course and began to call her daily. In fact, it was such a predictable thing that I was able to get a private investigator to put a tap on her car and follow her around. Then it wasn’t hard to get her on video when she didn’t know she was being recorded along with incriminating audio of her making those phone calls. And the threats had escalated to threatening to beat Laney’s ass when she saw her.

Tiffany was possibly looking at criminal charges, but Laney was willing to ignore it as long as I got full custody of Jack. She didn’t want to get involved in some stupid trial or anything. I didn’t blame her. Everything was going great for us.

I ignored Tiffany and walked out the door. Everything had gone our way today. It was a good day. I could hardly wait to tell Laney the good news.

“That’s great!” she squealed on the phone when she heard. “Wow, I’m so happy.”

“Me too,” I replied. “Let’s celebrate. I want to get a sitter and take you out for dinner.”

“How about we all go and take Jack. That way it will be a true celebration.”

“I like that idea,” I said.

“Great.”

“Laney. I love you. This is the beginning of even more amazing changes in our lives. It’s all uphill now, baby. I love you!”

“I love you, too,” she said laughing. She loved it when I got way too excited.

I left the courthouse feeling amazing, but even then, there was still a sinking feeling inside of me that told me something wasn’t quite right. I knew that Tiffany would not just let it go this simply, but if she tried to pull anything she would be going to jail. I’d filed a restraining order on behalf of myself and Laney. If she violated this agreement she would be put away for at least a year in the county jail. That was where she belonged. Tiffany needed to get off those narcotics and find her way back before something tragic happened to her. She was throwing her life away. Why couldn’t she see that?

That night Laney and I took Jack out to a great restaurant. He loved it. The guy was adorable in his little suit and tie. He did everything properly and it was the most well-behaved I’d ever seen him out in public. He was really starting to grow up a bit.

And when we got home he laid down and fell asleep quickly.

Then Laney and I busted out the champagne. It wasn’t long before we found ourselves in the bedroom between the sheets. And we had an amazing ride.

The next morning, I awoke feeling better than ever. I was out the door by six a. m. so that I could get home in time to spend time with my family. Yes, I considered Laney my family.

It was only a matter of time before I officially popped the question.

I just hoped that she would say yes.

Chapter 16

Laney

Six Weeks Later

I glanced at the clock on my phone as I walked towards the parking lot. I only had about an hour and a half to get to the doctor. I had to get the perishable items home first. Then I needed to prep a few things for the dinner I had planned that night. I should have gotten an earlier start. It was going to be cutting it close, but I needed to see the doctor. It was imperative.
