What am I doing? I have no reason to be angry at him. It's my boss who is stiffing me—he's the one who is helping me out, and I believe him when he says he does not expect anything in return… not that I want to sleep with him anyway.

I suddenly realize that I have no idea what his name is.

"Um, so, I'm Teal Hudson. I thought we should at least know each other's names if we are going to share a hotel room."

"Suite," he reminds me.”

I am about to go off at him when he adds, "Logan McDonagh."

He holds out his hand, and I shake it. "I'm sure it's a pleasure to meet you, Logan."

"You too," he says.

I try not to fawn over him, but it's hard. Those deep eyes are hypnotizing, and his grip is firm. It's been a long time since I've had a man like him. Maybe it's been longer than a long time—The only men I have been with had no idea what they were doing.

I sit back in the plush leather seat and try to soak it all in. I don't want to make conversation, but I know from a couple of his calls that he has a private jet that he will take home tomorrow, and this car is his while he is in the city. He also has a private penthouse at the Luthor Grand. It must be nice to have it so easy.

When we get to the hotel, the driver parks in one of the lower parking lots. We then take a private elevator straight up to the penthouse suite. I don't think I have ever been in a house as big as this, let alone a hotel room.

There are four rooms — two bathrooms, a cinema room, and three living areas. I go to the balcony to view the city as the sun dips below the horizon. I dream for a moment that I am a princess in a fairytale.

"I don’t know what you like," says Logan, appearing at the sliding doors. "I figure this will help with everything that is happening, and then there is wine and other stuff. I can order up whatever you want."

I take the glass and drink, and he does the same with his. The warm liquor slides easily down my throat.

"I'm sure this is expensive, but it is wasted on me." I down the rest of it and hand the glass back.

He nods and goes back into the main living area. "Red wine?" he shouts.

"I'm far too basic for that! Is there any white?"

"Come and take a look at the room service menu. I did promise you some food."

I return to the room, and he passes me a glass of white wine. I take a sip and smile. This is exactly what I need. I take a look at the menu and almost pass out. The most expensive thing on the menu is lobster, and it's over two hundred dollars a serving. There's no way I can order that.

"Does that say forty dollars for a pizza?" I ask.

"Do not worry about it," Logan says. "Do you want pizza?"

"Yeah," I concede. "I'm, like, super basic."

"You know what you like. There is something to be said about recognizing that."

"I guess. So…" I flop down on the couch, and I have to take a moment to recognize how unbelievably comfortable it is. "Are you really in love with this book? Like, seriously? You don't want it just because it'll make money or because everyone else wants it?"

"I genuinelyrespectthe book. I meant it when I said I want to protect the integrity of it."

"Okay, so what is it about? I mean, no one lets me read anything back at the office. I would have read it if I had the chance, but things like this are always top secret. But you've read it, right? So, tell me about it."

Logan looks at me as if I'm making fun of him.

"I'm serious. If I'm going to do my job, I should at least know what it's about, and you have a deep understanding of it."

"You do not need to manipulate me by stroking my ego."

"Well, go on then!"

I sit back on the couch as Logan takes the chair opposite. I have no idea how long the book is, but he spends around three hours telling me the basic premise and plot of the book. He even cites books that inspired the work, and how the issues prevalent in the book will resonate with people today.
