“You like painting?”

She flinched and spun around to see Amon standing by the door. “Did you paint this?”

“It’s my room so I would assume I painted all of them.” His tone was a little colder than earlier though still friendlier than what she was used to.

She turned red and looked around. “I’m sorry, I didn’t know it was your room. I didn’t see a bed, so I didn’t think it was someone’s private room.”

“We don’t sleep.”

“Oh…” She started to walk towards him and the door, not wanting to invade his space and privacy any further.

“I didn’t say you had to leave.”

She stopped in her tracks next to the piano. Trying to avoid an awkward silence, she let her fingers run over the wing. “So, I assume you play, since it’s your room?”

“Yes.”

As she looked at the piano her face reddened even more. “I had a friend in high school who played, and I loved sitting there listening to the music. I was never very talented, but I always loved listening.”

When she looked back up at him, he was gone. Confused, she looked around the room and saw him lifting up a large armchair from the corner and carrying it towards her.

“Are you going to play for me?”

As he placed the chair next to the piano, he gestured for her to sit. “Yes.”

Sitting in the armchair, she tried to hide her excitement, and watched as he sat down and laid his hands on the keys.

“What do you like to listen to?”

She bit her lip and pulled one of the pillows in front of her chest, hugging it. “I listen to anything.”

He nodded and started moving his fingers over the keys. He started with a low melody, though it wasn’t dark. She watched as his fingers gradually moved faster up to the point where they blurred, and she couldn’t really see them anymore. It sounded as if he and ten others were playing an interweaving song.

Watching his hands made her head dizzy so she leaned back and closed her eyes. She soaked in the music, letting it swarm around her, letting it carry her far away from this evening, from her sore body, and from her angst. Without even knowing it, she drifted into a light sleep that only lifted when the music slowly faded.

She took a deep breath and opened her eyes to see Amon still sitting in the same spot. Silas was a little behind him, while Rayen stood close to her.

“Would you like to sleep a little?” Rayen asked. “The room you showered in is yours.”

She sighed and stretched out, shaking her head. “I would like to go…”

“You’re not fucking leaving!” Silas interrupted her before she could even finish her sentence. “You’re staying with us.” He quickly came closer, his eyes burning red.

“Silas!” Quicker than she could grasp, Amon stood up and blocked him from coming closer. “She is not our prisoner and may come and leave as she pleases.”

“She is ours,” Silas growled, his voice dripping in jealousy.

Her skin started tingling. She’d assumed he was demanding and dominant, but it still caught her off guard that he would think of her as his. His eagerness slightly frightened her, but Amon’s words eased her worry.

“If I must, I’ll fight you, and you know that. She is free to leave at any time.” Amon stood just a few inches taller than Silas, his shoulders slightly broader, though Silas seemed to be more muscular.

“Would you like me to take you home?” Rayen surprised her as he kneeled down in front of her, reaching for her hand. As she noticed before, his touch was slightly cooler than what she would’ve expected.

She bit her lip trying to hide a grin. “I wanted to go get food.”

Rayen started laughing. “Of course. Would you like me to drive you? We can go wherever you like.”

“You’re not leaving?” Silas asked, baffled.
