Gabriella looked at me and busted out laughing. “You are big, honey.”

I shrugged at her with pride filling every pore in my body, but then I remembered, “Is she still? Pregnant, I mean? The drug wouldn’t have caused her to lose it, right?”

“We are waiting for OB to get here and perform a scan to check. Also, to see how far along you are.” He nodded at us and then there was a knock on the door as a woman in pink scrubs walked in pushing a machine.

And there on that monitor after everything was ready, and yes, I growled at the doctor when he stood where he was as the tech inserted the probe up my wife’s vagina.

The good doctor moved so he could still see the screen and not my wife's vagina.

There on the monitor, we saw a little blob that confirmed we were indeed pregnant.

Looking down at my wife, I asked, “Happy?”

She didn’t bother to take her eyes from the screen, knowing I wanted her eyes instead of staring at our baby. I found that I hadn’t minded it in the slightest, not even when she whispered, “Ecstatic. Are you?”

“Fifth best day of my life,” I told her as I pressed a kiss to her forehead.

The day’s events played on a loop while we waited for them to discharge her. But it wouldn’t be for a few hours, so everyone had headed home.

Gabriella had also found out why her father had distanced himself from her all those years ago. The reason he had no contact with her until now is that he was starting his empire and he didn’t want anyone to know about her and use her to hurt him.

And yes, her father was the head of a Mexican cartel.

Shaking my head that my wife was the daughter of a cartel boss I looked at my woman who had a gleam in her eyes, and before I could ask her what that was about, she said tiredly, “You have some master swimmers there, honey. Only been sleeping together for four weeks, means you had to have knocked me up the first time we had sex.”

“Just means this baby was meant to be. How long have you been wanting to say that to me?”

“Since he told us we were pregnant.” I chuckled at her and then settled my body around hers on the bed. And yes, half of my body was hanging off it. They needed bigger ones.

My woman was starting to waddle. We were six months pregnant and just found out that we were having a baby boy.

And for some reason, driving over an hour to a certain store when I was dog tired didn’t bother me. Not in the least. Not like it had before with my ex-wife.

I was really driving over an hour away because there was one store that carried the kind of fudge that Gabriella liked.

But I knew like I knew the back of my hand, and even if she wasn’t carrying my baby, I would be driving to get this fudge, anyway.

My phone rang just as I was checking out at the store. Pulling it out of my pocket, I checked the display, seeing my woman in her wedding dress, and answered immediately, “Hey, darlin’.”

“Where are you?” The hurried expression had my spine straightening.

“About to leave the store. Are you okay?” And the answer that followed that, well, I wanted to laugh my ass off.

“Yeah, now I want a cheeseburger and onion rings. Please?” She asked and I knew she was poking out her bottom lip.

Grinning, I nodded, checked the total, and handed the cashier a twenty-dollar bill. However, she hadn’t seen it because she was eyeing me up and down, and I didn’t like it one bit.

Snapping, I said, “Hey, quit eye fucking me and take the money.”

I shouldn’t have said that. Oh, hell no, I shouldn’t have. Because I heard, “Hand that bitch the fucking phone.”

“No, I will not hand the phone to her,” I said into the phone, then I said to the cashier, “Take my money so I can go get home to my wife. My very pregnant wife wants this fudge and a cheeseburger and onion rings. One that will not hesitate to come down here and kick your ass.”

“Has she taken your money yet?” She asked me shrilly, huffing, just as the cashier ducked her head and took my money.

“She just did,” I told her and had to smile. “You were putting your shoes on, weren’t you?”
