“Who put their hands on my daughter?” A man asked as he stepped out from behind Pipe while four men in suits took position on either side of him.

“Who the fuck are you?” Buster asked in a shrill tone.

“My name is Eduardo Costa.”

That was my father's name. What the hell was happening here?

“Holy… fucking… shit,” Buster mumbled.

“Ahh, I see you have heard of me. Now I’ll ask one more time, who hit my daughter?”

But I didn’t have my eyes on my father or on Buster. No, they were all on my man as he stepped further into the warehouse.

My body jolted when a shot rang out and suddenly Buster was screaming while holding his hand that no longer held a gun in his hand.

Snapping my head to the side, it was to see Coal lowering his own gun.

Pipe stepped closer to Rebecca and Buster, placing his body between them and me, and said in a tone I have never heard him use before, “You fucked up.”

Craning my neck to see around him as Rebecca sneered and asked, “How?”

“You took the one thing that means the most to me in this world.”

I watched as something crossed over her face, but it was gone in a split second. With venom lacing her words, she asked, “I never did, did I?”

“Nope. Because you never felt as though I was coming home. With Gabriella, I am home.”

“How the fuck did y’all find us so fast?” Buster asked them.

“You dumped your phone, but guess you didn’t tell my whore of an ex-wife that she needed to do the same.”

“All the years I have given you and you speak to me like that?” Rebecca stuttered.

But it was Pipe’s answer that had me wanting to climb him like a spider monkey.

“I told you, you fucked up Rebecca. Thought I loved you, but when I met Gabriella, I realized I never loved you. Because what I feel for her? Well, that trumps everything in my life, even my next breath. I would never talk to her like that, and if I did, you best believe I would shoot myself with my own gun.”

“You good, honey?” Coal asked me and had my face not been on fire, I would have dropped my jaw to the floor.

I simply nodded and whispered, trying not to move my mouth too much, “I see what Adeline sees now. You got a sexy voice.”

He laughed softly, shook his head, and then said something else to me, “Don’t let Pipe hear you say that.”

He grinned as I laughed and then winced when the movement made my face hurt all the more. “Gonna need stitches. You okay if I help you up?”

I nodded, and then, with Coal’s help, stood on shaky legs.

I wasn’t sure what had been in the syringe Buster had injected me with, but it was some strong stuff.

With Coal’s arm wrapped around my waist, he helped me to the door and then stopped as we watched Pipe pull out his gun and shoot his ex-wife between the eyes.

Then he placed his gun back into his kutte and then walked over to a pipe that was on the floor, looked over to where we were standing, and said, “Darlin’, need you out of this room for what I’m about to do.”

“I’m not going anywhere until I’m in your arms and you’re getting me out of this place. Besides, if you don’t kill him, I'll have to do the job for you.”

I heard, “That’s my daughter.” But I paid him no mind. He walked out on me. Never looked back.

With Coal’s arm around my waist, I watched as Pipe took the lead pipe and broke every bone in Buster’s body, and only then did he pull his gun out and shoot Buster right between the eyes.
