Just as I thought about that, the door to the clubhouse opened.

And I was glad I had my hands braced on the bar top.

Because of the man that walked through those doors.

Holy motherfucking shit.

He looked good enough to eat.

Gone was the t-shirt he had on earlier and the jeans that were grease-stained.

And in its place was a black long-sleeved shirt, a nice pair of jeans, and his hat was on.

That was when I saw him scan the room, and when his eyes met mine, it happened again. Everyone and everything faded away.

Never once in his trek across the floor to me did he look anywhere else.

I felt the heat emanating from him, wondering what he was up to.

I couldn’t get a read on him.

Just what was going on?

But I shouldn’t have even thought that.

Because all the words in the dictionary that formed to make those few sentences that fell from his lips… rocked my entire world.

Chapter 10

Pipe

And the first words out of my mouth were, “Let's go.”

She looked at me with a confusing look on her face and asked, “Umm… go where?”

“Been waiting on you my whole life Gabriella, ain’t willing to wait another minute and not know that you’re mine and I’m yours.”

“You’re still mar…” She started to say until I laid the divorce decree on the bar top in front of her.

“After Rebecca showed her ass, Asher told me he had a judge that owed him a favor. Took her and the papers to him and forced her to sign them or else I would share all the videos I have of her cheating on me, and he granted me the divorce. Was waiting on this form.” I tapped the decree.

She looked down at it and then back up at me with her heart on her sleeve. “What does this mean?”

“Means I’m free. Means I finally get to claim someone that I know will never cheat on me. Someone who, when I come home, will be there. Means I get to claim a woman that is my other half. Also, means for the first time in my life that after a long day of working, I’ll come home to a woman that is wearing a smile on her face. One that’s just for me.”

She laughed softly then and asked, “You sure about that?”

I nodded. “Damn sure, darlin’.”

She bit that bottom lip that I wanted to nibble on with my teeth. “How do you know?”

“I know because when your eyes meet mine, they shine. I know because the moment our skin touched, you inhaled a breath because you weren’t expecting it. Know we haven’t known each other that long, but when one soul recognizes its other half, it just knows. I wasn’t your first, darlin’. But I’ll be damned, I’ll be your last. And that you can take to the bank.”

“What if there’s no chemistry?” She asked, and I wanted to scoff.

In fact, I did so and then asked, “Trust me?”

She nodded and then I stepped closer to the bar and held out my hand for her to take. She did so, then I leaned in closer and placed her palm over my beating heart that had taken a rhythm of its own, one I’ve never felt before. “You were saying?”
