Sutton sighed then offered us all a smile and said, “I’m sorry, but after his words to me, I just can’t stand to be in the same room as him.”

I nodded at her as well as Adeline. “Honey, we don’t blame you, not one single bit. No one deserves to be spoken to like that, even more so when they know the situation.”

Just as Adeline said that, Asher walked over and said, “Sutton, think we need to speak in my office?”

She bowed her head and nodded.

But before she left, Coal said in a low tone, “I’ll kick his ass again, you just say the word.”

We talked about their situation, funny enough we were all in agreement that Irish needed to pull his head out of his ass or else he was going to lose something we didn’t think he wanted to lose.

After dinner, we had cleaned up and I was standing at the bar wiping it down, when I heard, “Hey darlin’.”

Spinning around, I squealed and jumped into Taz’s arms while wrapping my arms around his neck and squeezing tight. “I didn’t know you were coming here!”

With his arms tight around me, he squeezed me right back while walking back to sit on a bar stool. “Wanted it to be a surprise.”

Pulling away from him, I looked at his face while saying, “I’m still waiting for why you didn’t tell me you were headed this way.”

Just then a dark shadow fell over us.

Taz frowned and looked up, and up and then when his eyes settled on the person behind us, he frowned. I didn’t have to ask who it was. I knew that man’s cologne from anywhere.

“Pipe, good to see you. Heard you were coming back.”

Pipe didn’t say a word, just growled at Taz and held out his hand. Taz offered him his, and when Pipe shook his head, then looked at me, I got it.

I didn’t understand it though. So, me being me, I asked, “Is there something you need, Pipe?”

I felt Taz’s chest rumbling against my chest as Pipe looked at me and glared, “Yeah, need you to get off his motherfucking lap right the fuck now.”

Suddenly, I felt as though I was playing with fire. Who knew I liked being burned? “And why is that?”

“Because I don’t like when another man has his hands on you.”

Before I could come back with a reply, something like I wasn’t his, and he was someone else’s, Tink came into the clubhouse then and said with a shout that only her little body could put out, “Gabby! You’re the only woman I will ever allow to be in my man’s lap.”

Laughing, I jumped off Taz’s lap, dodging Pipe, and raced over to her.

Caught up in an embrace, she whispered in my ear, “Who is that fine tall drink of water that’s glaring at my man?”

“That’s Pipe. I don’t have a clue Tink. He’s married.”

She nodded, then pulled away and looked into my eyes. Seeing the love and the sorrow in them, she nodded again and murmured, “I’m sorry.”

Tink was a club girl for all of a single day before Taz scooped her up and claimed her right in the middle of them introducing her. She was the only friend I had in high school. The only one that defended me was when all the other kids called me a whore and a gold digger like my mother.

Taz had been a nomad like Pipe was and had settled with a club out west called the Soulless Outlaws MC.

I didn’t know what Taz and Pipe had exchanged, but apparently, when we made it back over there to them, Pipe was relaxed.

Tink told me they were headed to see her parents and stopped here on the way.

Sadly, they had only stayed for an hour, and then they left.

It was pushing toward midnight, and we were all gathered around the fire pit outside. After a few more beers with the women, and yes, with Pipe still at my side, he leaned over and said, “Tell me something no one else knows.” I wasn’t sure how we got on this topic of conversation.

But we did.
