So, he called his marker in and they let everything go.

Funny thing was, ever since Pipe and I got closer, I hadn’t even thought about that incident, and I had also let go of the anger that they would have returned me to them.

We were about done with everything, and we were creating a buffet-style dinner on the bar top when I noticed that Pipe still hadn’t come to find me. Glancing over at Pagan who was sitting at the end of the bar, I asked, “Where is Pipe?”

I knew that it wasn’t my place to ask, but out of all of them, I knew that if it wasn’t club-related, he would tell me.

“He’ll be here. Had something to take care of first.” Just then his phone pinged with a text.

He read it and called out for a prospect.

Then Pagan stood up and said, “He’s done. Be here soon.” And then he walked out with the prospect at his heels.

Walking over to the girls, I sat down as we waited for Asher to gather everyone so we could all eat.

Thirty minutes later we were lining up when Pipe walked through the doors with two duffle bags, and I let out a breath I hadn’t realized I was holding.

I saw him sit them just beside the door and out of the way, and then he searched the main room of the clubhouse.

Like a moth drawn to a flame, the moment his eyes landed on mine, he started to make his way over to me. Getting in line behind me, I asked him over my shoulder, “Why are you standing back here with us? Go up there.”

He looked down at me and said, “I’m right where I want to be.”

And damn if I didn’t have to repeat that all too familiar mantra in my head to remind myself that he was married.

“Okay, why are there two different plates of cookies? What's the difference?” Asher asked us.

“One has peanuts, and one doesn’t.” Stella said as she grabbed a cookie that had peanuts in it.

Just then Asher looked at all of us until his eyes landed on me and the man behind me, and he smirked. He fucking smirked. I stuck my tongue out at him, which had him laughing as he carried his plate to his table where Stella and Chloe followed soon after.

I felt the man behind me stiffen and when I chanced a look over my shoulder and up at him. Almost as if in awe, he looked at me and said, “I never told you I was allergic to peanuts.”

I fiddled with the hem of my t-shirt then. “You always ask if whatever dessert they make has peanuts in it. And at the restaurant, you asked if they cook the fries in peanut oil. So, either you don’t like them, or you're allergic to them.”

And the smile I was graced with? Sweet baby Jesus.

“I’m allergic to them.”

I nodded and started filling my plate up.

And as we made it to the cookies, I grabbed one without peanuts and handed it to him.

He took it from me, ensuring that our fingertips brushed, and took a bite, then winked at me.

I was shaking my head as I went to the table where Adeline and Sutton were sitting as Lizette followed me, and apparently, they had been watching the interaction because Sutton said in a low voice, “That wink and that smile. My God. If I wasn’t in love with Irish, I would go after that man.”

I smiled and realized I didn’t have a drink. Just as I was about to stand up to grab a soda, Pipe walked over to us, handed me one of the two sodas in his hand, and took the seat beside me.

“Thank you.” I told him as I opened my bottle and took a small sip.

Coal and Irish walked over to our table, placed their plates down, and grabbed chairs. We all resituated so Coal could sit by Adeline, and Irish by Sutton.

“Is this the claimed but still unclaimed table?” Lizette asked with a laugh, which had all of us cracking up.

Only not for Sutton. I watched with a sad frown on my face as she grabbed her plate, drink, and stood up to leave.

But before she could, Irish snarled, pushed back his chair and walked out of the clubhouse while slamming the door so hard into the wall that the picture frames hanging there rattled.
