“Sounds interesting. Thanks for the heads up.”

"I'm glad I could help. New York is an incredible city, and I'm sure you'll have a great time. Just be prepared for a lot of walking and a lot of sensory overload. The city can be overwhelming at times, but that's all part of the experience. And if you have any more questions or need any more recommendations, don't hesitate to ask."

As we chatted, I began to see a different side of Becca. She was smart, funny, and had a kindness about her that I had never noticed before. I found myself opening up to her, telling her about my struggles with Mark and adjusting to life without my wife.

To my surprise, Becca listened attentively and offered words of encouragement. She even shared some of her own experiences, talking about how she had overcome difficult times in her own life.

Steve, who was playing with Mark in the corner, interrupted. He cleared his throat.

"I'm also here,” he said.

I turned to Steve and smiled. “Of course, sorry about that! Do you have any questions or thoughts about New York, Steve?" I asked sarcastically.

Steve nods eagerly. "Actually, I've been to New York a few times and I absolutely love it. One of my favorite things to do is just walk around and explore different neighborhoods.

“Oh, I didn’t know you were such a stalker, Steve,” Becca said, laughing when Steve took a playful swipe at her.

“Let’s eat," I said.

As we ate, Steve brought up the subject of Becca's recent breakup. I felt a twinge of discomfort, not wanting to pry into her personal life. But Becca didn't seem to mind, and she opened up to them about the difficulties she had been facing.

I listened intently, feeling a sense of empathy for Becca's struggles. I could tell that she was going through a tough time, and I wanted to be there for her. Then I pushed away from such longings. Becca was not my problem; I didn’t have to solve her problems.

When they were done, we decided to take a walk on the beach side.

As we walked along the beach, the sound of the waves crashing against the shore filled the air. The sun was shining down, and there was a light breeze that made the warm day bearable.

As they walked along the beach, Becca and Steve couldn't help admiring the beautiful houses and stunning views that surrounded them. They turned to me and said, ''this is beautiful."

"Can't imagine how amazing it must be to live in a house with this kind of view,” Becca said."

“It's definitely a nice change of pace from the city. The views are incredible, and it's so peaceful out here. It's the perfect place to relax and unwind," I replied.

Becca smiled. "That sounds wonderful. Maybe we can come to visit you sometime?”

I grinned. "Absolutely. You guys are always welcome."

As we continued our walk, we talked more about the house and the beautiful views that surrounded it. They couldn't help but feel grateful for the peaceful serenity of the beach.

It was a reminder that sometimes, the greatest luxuries in life were the simplest ones - like a beautiful view and good company.

As the night wore on, I found myself relaxing in the company of family and Becca. They laughed and joked, telling stories about their childhood and reminiscing about old times.

I couldn't help noticing how much Mark had taken to Becca. He loved her company, and he was always eager to play with her and show her his toys.

I was grateful for the time he had spent with his family and Becca. Despite the awkwardness of their reunion, I felt a renewed sense of hope for the future.

As Becca hugged me goodbye, I couldn't help but feel a sense of attraction towards her. I tried to push it aside, not wanting to complicate things any further.

But as I watched her walk away, I couldn't help but wonder if there was something more between them. Maybe this could be the beginning of a new chapter in my life if I didn’t ruin it as always.

As I tucked Mark into bed that night, Mark looked up at me with a serious expression. "Can I tell you something, Dad?" he asked.

"Of course, buddy. What's on your mind?" Hunter replied, sitting down on the edge of the bed.

"I think I really like Becca," Mark said, his cheeks turning red.

I chuckled softly. "Oh, really? Why is that?"
