Almost an hour later, I dropped Mark off at school, chatted with some of the parents, and made my way over to Becca's cafe. The drive was slow, the road filled with vehicles, people rushing over to work and parents dropping their kids off at school.

I whistled to myself, the Cabin would be the perfect getaway for the two of us, there wasn't much work to be done and we could just spend the weekend together, just the two of us, out there in the woods surrounding it. I had no idea if Becca had ever hiked, but there were trails up there to explore if she was up to it, and if not, then we could relax in the cabin, exploring ourselves. It would be great. Hopefully, she said yes, all of it hinged on if she said yes.

I pulled up at the cafe and found a parking spot. The place would be busy this morning, so I would just order breakfast for myself and wait until the morning rush was over. I got out of the car and walked to the door, pushed it open, and walked inside. Just as I had expected, the place was bustling, the sound of forks and spoons and pouring coffee filling the room.

Becca looked up at my entrance and a look filled her eyes that I didn't understand before she smiled and gave a little wave. I waved back and found a table for myself by the window. Delia passed by and I ordered a coffee and a breakfast pie. She brought it along, and I got to my meal, keeping my eye on the patrons around.

Soon enough, Becca came over to the table and sat opposite me. She smiled and squeezed my hand on my table.

"Okay, listen to this, I've been thinking, and I think we should take a little trip together. We've barely had time to be together, what with the cafe and Mark, it'll be just the two of us out there,” I said, getting into it immediately. She'd need to get back to work soon.

"Woah, woah, woah, calm down, say that again?" She asked, tilting her head to the right and smiling already. I knew I had it in the bag then. She'd be coming.

"I have a cabin in the Santa Monica mountains, it'll be a whole thing, just the weekend, I'll have you back here for work by Monday,” I said.

"And Mark?"

"He's staying with Natalie for the weekend."

She smiled again and shoved her hands forward.

"I'll be ready to leave by evening. I'll need to pack, so pick me up at home."

I picked up my coffee and smiled into the mug, it would be fun.

Becca's POV

I hopped into Hunter's car, feeling a rush of excitement as we began our drive to the cabin. The sun was shining, and the air was crisp, a perfect day for a getaway. Hunter had just arrived to pick me up and the journey to the mountains was just about to start. I was looking forward to it. I hadn't taken a weekend away for ages.

"So, tell me about this cabin of yours," I said, turning to look at Hunter.

He grinned, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "It's a cozy little place in the woods, with a beautiful view of the mountains. You're going to love it."

I nodded, imagining what it would look like. "Does it have a fireplace?"

"Of course," he said with a chuckle. "It wouldn't be a cabin without one,”

I smiled, feeling my heart flutter. Hunter had a way of making me feel at ease, even when I was nervous. And I was nervous, very nervous. A weekend away with Hunter meant we would be together almost all the time. If my morning sickness hit while I was there, there would be no explaining it away, which was why I had quickly agreed to the getaway. I needed to find the perfect time to tell him he would be a father. Maybe when we had just made love and he was relaxed, I'd introduce it to him slowly.

"Are we almost there?" I asked, feeling like a kid on a long car ride.

Hunter chuckled. "We're getting close. Just an hour more."

As we drove, we chatted about everything and anything - our work, our families, and our plans for the future, we talked about our plans for the weekend, including hiking, cooking together, and stargazing at night. I couldn't wait to spend some quality time with him and get away from the stress of everyday life.

It was so easy to talk to Hunter, and I loved the way he listened intently to everything I had to say.

The scenery was breathtaking as we drove up into the mountains. Towering trees flanked the winding roads.

"Look at that!" I exclaimed, pointing to a family of deer grazing by the side of the road. "This is amazing. I can't believe how beautiful it is up here."

Hunter smiled. "I'm glad you like it. It is one of my favorite places in the world."

He chuckled. "It's a cabin, Becca. It looks like a cabin. But I promise you'll love it. It's rustic and cozy."

"I can't wait to see it!" I said, leaning forward in my seat and sticking my head out of the window. "What kind of things do people usually do when they're at the cabin?"
