Next up was my hair. I decided to wear it down in soft waves, so I blow-dried it and used a curling iron to add some gentle curls. I brushed it out and then spritzed it with some hairspray to make sure it would stay in place.

I rummaged through my closet, trying to decide what to wear. I settled on a little black dress that hugged my curves in all the right places. I slipped it on and then stepped into a pair of strappy heels that made me feel like a million bucks.

Finally, I added a few finishing touches: a delicate necklace that my mother had given me, a pair of diamond studs that sparkled in the light, and a swipe of lip gloss that made my lips look luscious and inviting.

As I stood in front of the mirror, I couldn't help but smile. I looked good, and I felt even better. Hunter was going to be blown away when he saw me tonight. I couldn't wait to see the look on his face when he laid eyes on me.

As I was putting the finishing touches on my makeup, I heard a knock at the door. My heart raced with excitement as I rushed to answer it. I swung the door open, and there stood Hunter, looking even more handsome than I remembered.

He wore a crisp white shirt and black pants, his hair styled perfectly. He held a bouquet of lilies in his hand, their sweet scent filling the air. How did he even know they were my favorite? I couldn’t remember telling him.

"Hi, Becca," he said, a smile spreading across his face. "You look beautiful."

I blushed at his compliment and thanked him before taking the flowers from his hand. As I set them aside, he reached for my hand, and I felt a jolt of electricity run through my body at his touch.

We walked out of the house, and towards his car, his hand still holding mine. The sun was just beginning to set, casting a warm glow over everything. It was a perfect evening for a date.

As we drove towards our destination, Hunter and I talked and laughed, enjoying each other's company. The conversation flowed effortlessly between us, and I felt myself falling even more for him with each passing moment.

“Where are we going?” I asked.

“Dinner, I thought you might be hungry after spending the day at the café,” he replied.

“Look who planned ahead.” I giggled.

“The planner, at your service ma’am,” Hunter replied jovially.

When we arrived at the restaurant, Hunter helped me out of the car, and we walked to the entrance. The hostess greeted us and showed us to our table, which was tucked away in a cozy corner. The decor of the restaurant was simple but elegant, with warm lighting and soft music playing in the background.

The tables were covered with crisp white tablecloths, and each setting was carefully arranged with silverware, glassware, and fresh flowers. The walls were adorned with beautiful paintings, and the ambiance was just right for a romantic evening.

When we made it to our table, Hunter pulled out my chair for me with a charming smile. The waiter came by to take our drink orders, and we both opted for water to start while asking that wine be brought later. I looked around the restaurant, taking in the decor and the lively atmosphere.

"This place is amazing," I said, admiring the elegant chandeliers and the artwork on the walls.

"I'm glad you like it," Hunter replied, looking at me with his warm brown eyes. "I wanted to take you somewhere special."

I smiled at him, feeling my cheeks turn slightly pink. "You certainly have succeeded."

The waiter returned with our water and then excused himself to give us time to make our choices from the menu.

As we waited for our waiter to return so we could order, Hunter and I chatted about our day and our interests. We talked about our favorite books and movies, and he even shared some stories about his travels. But from his words, they really hadn’t been that many.

I noticed the other diners around us. A group of businessmen sat at a table nearby, discussing deals over drinks. At another table, an older couple sat enjoying a leisurely dinner. The waitresses moved gracefully around the room, attending to their guests with effortless charm.

The menu offered a range of dishes, from classic Italian plates of pasta to exotic Thai curries. I perused the options, struggling to choose just one. Finally, I settled on a savory chicken dish with a side of roasted vegetables. Hunter opted for a steak, cooked to perfection with a side of garlic mashed potatoes.

When the waiter arrived, we ordered and waited patiently for the food.

As we waited for our food, we sipped on glasses of red wine and chatted about our day. The atmosphere was relaxed and intimate, and I felt myself getting lost in the moment. When our food arrived, I was struck by the beautiful presentation.

My dish was arranged artfully on the plate, with vibrant colors and intricate garnishes. The chicken was tender and juicy, and the vegetables were perfectly seasoned. I could learn a few things here to try at my café.

Hunter's steak was cooked exactly as he had requested, and the mashed potatoes were creamy and delicious. We savored every bite, sipping wine and enjoying the lively ambiance of the restaurant.

As we finished our meal, the waitresses brought over a dessert menu. We debated whether to indulge or not, but ultimately, we shared a decadent chocolate cake that arrived on a large platter, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side. The cake was rich and fudgy, and we savored every rich and fudgy bite.

I had just dropped my fork and sat back with a sigh when Hunter cleared his throat. I looked up at him. He cleared his throat again. Whatever he wanted to say must’ve been important.
