"Welcome to my humble abode," Christian said, grinning at me as he gestured for me to take a seat on the couch.

I sat down, taking in the breathtaking view from the windows. The sound of the waves crashing against the shore was soothing, and I couldn't wait to explore the town while Christian was away. He gave me a tour, showing me his collection of art and books.

His house was a distance from any other house, so it would give me the quiet time I needed to spend on my job hunting. I could have a job as easily as snapping my fingers at the family business, but I wanted something different. I was willing to take my time and work for it.

“I have a surprise for you," Christian said the next day, grinning mischievously.

We had spent much of the morning deciding who was the best chef, which was neither of us. Apparently, we were both terrible cooks, although Christian had to be way worse. He even burned his toast, and that was the easiest meal to make in the world.

"What is it?" I asked, intrigued.

“It’s a surprise Alex, and that means I can’t tell you,” he said.

“But I want to know. Come on, spit it out already,” I begged him, moving from my chair to his lap.

"Fine. Since you look like you might pass out from suspense, I'll tell you. I thought we could explore the local market. There's always something interesting going on there."

I grinned. "That sounds like fun."

"This is amazing," I said as we walked through the bustling outdoor market. "I never knew this city had so much to offer."

"I'm glad you're enjoying it," Christian replied, taking my hand. "You’re like a baby with a new toy,” he said laughing at me.

I was flitting from a stall, checking out the array of items in each.

We stopped at a food stall and ordered a few dishes to share. As we sat down to eat, Christian leaned in and whispered in my ear, "I made reservations at a really special restaurant.”

My eyes widened with excitement. "What kind of restaurant?"

"It's a place that specializes in fusion cuisine, but I’ve preordered some local dishes. Do you mind?" he asked, grinning. "I think you're going to love it."

The market was a vibrant and colorful scene, with vendors selling everything from fresh produce to handmade crafts. As we walked through, Christian pointed out some of his favorite stalls. "You have to try these olives," he said, stopping. "They're some of the best I've ever tasted."

I tried one and was immediately impressed. "Wow, you're right. These are amazing."

We continued to wander through the market, picking up fresh bread, cheeses, and other treats. I couldn't believe how much fun I was having with Christian, just exploring the city and experiencing new things.

Christian held my hand tightly as we walked around the market, weaving us through the crowds of people. The smell of freshly baked goods filled the air, making my stomach rumble. We walked past several stalls selling handmade jewelry, colorful fabrics, and unique trinkets. Christian stopped at a leather goods vendor and picked out a lovely hand-tooled bag.

"Here, this is for you," he said, handing me the exquisite item. "A little something to remember our trip by."

I smiled, touched by his gesture. "Thank you, Christian. I love it."

We continued our exploration of the market, stopping to sample different foods and buy souvenirs for our friends and family back home. Christian insisted on buying me a colorful, intricately designed African dress from a stall full of exotic pieces, saying he wanted to see me wear it to dinner that night.

My stomach fluttered at the thought of the special evening ahead. I couldn't wait to see what other surprises he had cooked up for us. I could definitely fall in love with this Christian. Or maybe I was deceiving myself and I already had.

Eventually, we made our way back to the hotel to freshen up before dinner. I slipped into the beautiful dress Christian bought me at the market. As it shimmied down my body into place, I couldn't help feeling a little self-conscious. It was a bold and colorful print, and I wasn't used to wearing such vibrant clothes. But when I stepped out of the dressing room, Christian's eyes lit up.

"You look amazing, Alex," he said, his smile lighting up his face.

I felt myself blushing and smiling back at him. He could make me feel glamorous and exotic with just a few words. I turned from the mirror and gave a little twirl for his benefit.

"This dress was made for you," he said, admiring my outfit. "Are you ready for dinner?"

I nodded, feeling a little nervous about what the night would bring. We took a drive to a fancy restaurant in the city, where we were warmly welcomed and shown to our table. Christian had pre-ordered our meal, and we enjoyed a delicious feast of local delicacies, savoring each bite and sharing our thoughts on the food.

After dinner, we took a leisurely stroll around the city, enjoying the night air and the twinkling lights from the buildings around us. We talked about our hopes and dreams, sharing our deepest desires with each other. It felt like we were finally on the same page, understanding each other in a way we never had before
