“How’d you do it?” Valerie asked. She sounded like she’d received a major shock. I would’ve sounded the same way in her shoes. Anyone who knew me and Christian would have.

I shook my head, still grinning. "That’s a trade secret.” They would never ever let me live it down if they found out precisely how it had gone down.

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the line before Sophie spoke again. "Okay, spill the tea. How did you do it? Exactly?

Valerie let out a whoop of excitement. "I knew you could do it! You are the queen of winning bets."

I grinned. "Thanks, Valerie. I couldn't have done it without you,” I said sarcastically. “And on that note, you're all coming to my place tonight, so I can give you all the juicy details."

Sophie laughed. "I'll be there. Can't wait to hear everything."

“Count me in. I’ll bring some wine. This news should be savored,” Valerie said giggling.

I sat back on my couch, feeling fairly proud of myself. I'd won the bet. It didn’t really matter how, only that it was done. Now I could move on to the next phase of my plan.

Later that evening, Valerie and Sophie arrived at my apartment, eager for the details of my conquest. I had the snacks and drinks prepared, and they settled down on the couch. Sophie had come here from the office. She couldn’t seem to repress her curiosity.

"So, spill it, the girl said Valerie. How did you get him to fall for it?" asked Valerie. She had arrived first with a bottle of expensive champagne.

I took a deep breath like I was about to reveal the world's best-kept secret, and then I burst out laughing. It was hilarious, the looks of intense concentration on their faces.

"Well, it took some work. I’m not gonna lie. The man can be difficult when he wants to be. Y’all know I take my wedding duties seriously and went over to his place under that pretense. Long story short, I went at it the old-fashioned way, just like you suggested, Sophie."

It was Sophie's turn to burst out laughing. Valerie giggled along. They both looked impressed.

“That's smart," Sophie said. "And it obviously worked."

I grinned. "Yeah, it did. He’s a man after all, and I’m a hot woman."

They all giggled and cheered. "Oh my god,” Valerie exclaimed

"I can't believe you actually won the bet."

I laughed. "Yeah, me neither”

“Is he a hot kisser or what?” she asked, a lewd smile on her face?

I felt my face heating up as I remembered the kiss. It had been hot and sexy, and I wanted it again.

“She’s clearly been a naughty girl,” Sophie exclaimed.

“It was just a kiss,” I replied looking away shyly.

“Oh, she really has been a real naughty girl, Valerie whispered provocatively. Tell us already!” she yelled, sounding ready at that point to bring the details out of me if that's what it took.

“Well he’s good," I told them, "very good, I have to admit.”

This sentence had the desired effect and they both uttered playful screams that echoed through the room.

“You loved it, you sneaky bitch,” Valerie laughed. “And to think I had to convince you.”

“When are you seeing him again?” Sophie asked.

“I’m not certain. He’s been busy” I said. I'd spoken to Christian on the phone, but we hadn’t met up since he sent me the flowers, which I had taken more as a territorial gesture than a loving one. I was fairly certain I was correct about that. He didn’t have a charming bone in his body. Not Christian.

“Well, what are you waiting for? asked Sophie. This is gonna be so much fun, Alex!”
