"Sounds refreshing. My father wouldn’t like you."

I got a laugh from him. "Does your family know their daughter is traversing planets with a vicious, fanged male who put his lips on her?"

My clit tingled while I recalled the pleasant and necessary act of survival. "Not yet, but if I tell them you’re a vicious, fangedkingwho put his lips on me, they might take it better."

I went around the corner and searched for the medicine vault to get the remaining serum to take along with us. My nerves crashed once I saw the vault smashed and broken on the floor.

"This can’t be happening." I got to my knees and rummaged through its scattered contents.

Varus’s winged shadow covered me. "Why is it the only thing here destroyed?"

"Protocol. We don’t leave anything behind that’s experimental or has the potential to benefit an enemy." I sat back on my heels. "This is going to be a challenge."

I salvaged a small oxygen canister from the medic station to use in a mask. I had no idea if I would need it, but I didn’t want to take chances. I saw where losing my last mask got me, a round of lightheadedness cured by a series of steamy kisses from a hot bloodthirsty alien male.

I made sure he couldn’t see me as I did an awkward rub of my neck to combat the fuzzy sensation. There sure were worst ways to cure lightheadedness than being kissed. And kissed well. "I think I'm going to head to the showers to see if the water’s working. After being out there overnight, I feel pretty gross."

He exited first. Once he gave me the clear, I departed from the medic station one last time and led the way to the shower stalls. A pair of lights flickered from the ceiling, casting the metal and tiled space of the communal portion of the stalls in an eerie glow.

"The generators could go any minute. We need to hurry if we want warm water." I grabbed towels from the rack near the door. "You ever hear of a navy shower?"

He eyed the pair of stalls. "My wings won’t fit in there."

"You can use the communal portion." I pointed to the larger space. "Soap dispenser’s by the showerhead."

He didn’t move towards them. "I’m not leaving you by yourself."

"I’ll be right here. You can see me. And I can lock the door." I demonstrated.

He still wouldn’t budge. "If there’s danger, I need to be able to reach you in time."

I dropped the heavy knapsack on the floor. My aching back thanked me. "What exactly are you suggesting?"

I should’ve known as soon as I saw the devilish gleam in his garnet eyes.
