“Everything.”

She snorted. “You sure about that?”

“Yup. And I promise I won’t run away like a scared little boy. I can handle all your big emotions, Little Bird.”

“Well, alright then.” She pressed a tiny smile to his chest as the love song yielded to another. “Luke?”

“Yeah?”

“That was my fourth dance.”

“You ready for that walk on the beach?”

“Eh, I was kind of hoping we could blast down it on your bike instead.”

“That’s my bird!”

Chapter twenty-six

Twentyheart-poundingminuteslater,Luke pulled his motorcycle into its spot behind Tidal View. Helping Andy off, he dismounted and doffed his helmet as she did hers.

“Is my place okay?” he asked, tethering both helmets to the bike. “We can always go back to yours if you prefer, but FYI, I do have floss picks.”

She cast a considering look towards his condo. “So this will be a sleepover then?”

“Yes.”

Her face — already flushed from their exhilarating ride along the beach — grew even rosier. “Okay, well, I have these.” She slipped her hand into her dress and pulled out a fistful of foil-wrapped packets.

Luke’s dick hardened in Pavlovian response. “That’s a whole lot of condoms.”

“I raided Kyle’s bar.”

A packet slipped from her hand, and when they both knelt to retrieve it, she seemed to grow nervous. “They weren’t for him, by the way. I just like free.”

She looked so flustered and cute that he couldn’t help teasing her. “You just like free, huh?”

“Well, I like you too.” Gaze dropping to her treasure trove of complimentary contraceptives, she blew out a snort.“A lot.”

God, she was killing him right now. “Let’s go, Bird.”

They made it into an elevator, Andy still holding on to the condoms as she rocked slightly. Luke had noticed her do this before when she was either anxious or amped up. Perhaps now, she was feeling a bit of both. He could relate. Luke had never wanted a woman so much in his life.

As though sensing he was watching her, Andy glanced from the numbers lighting up on the control panel to him, and the subtle motion of her body stilled. “It’s called stimming.”

“The rocking?”

She nodded. “One of my self-stimulatory behaviors. I have a few of them.”

“This another one?” He reached out and brushed a thumb over the lip she was biting.

The lip popped free, stretching into a tiny embarrassed smile. “Yeah. I can stop if you want me to.”

“Hell no.” The elevator pinged, and Andy’s body gave a startled jerk. Exiting, Luke immediately crowded her up against the wall outside it. “Never stop being your true self when you’re with me. I’m guessing you hide her enough when you’re around other people.”

“Yeah,” she breathed. “That’s called masking.”

“Sounds exhausting.”
