“It’s fit for a queen.” I mused, suddenly feeling inadequate again.

“No,” Nico tilted my head back with his finger under my chin, “a goddess, Arianna. It’s a perfect match for you. A goddess has powers and immortality whereas a queen simply sits atop a throne until she is often beheaded by mere men. A goddess reigns with her own strength.”

“Nico,” I whispered, having absolutely no other words to do justice to what he just uttered himself.

“Let’s get this finished so that we can get to our next stop, Little One.” He turned his attention back to Roberto like he hadn’t just gifted me with the nicest thing anyone had ever said to me before and moved on.

While I sat there trying to name and control the emotions rolling through me.

Disbelief.

Excitement.

Fear.

Hope.

Worry.

Adoration.

The biggest of all, doubt. But I had to let that settle somewhere deep inside of me so I could bury it and thrive in the feelings I was experiencing. I deserved this.

I deserved happiness and fulfillment, regardless of what doubts had been planted and grown inside of me as a child.

“I’ll have it delivered to your ship tomorrow evening at the latest,” Roberto said when business was concluded between the men.

“Perfect,” Nicolas replied, shaking the man’s hand before leading me from the room. “Let’s get to our next stop.”

We rode in a hired car through the city in peaceful silence as I watched the sights out of the car window, before long we stopped at another storefront with elaborate decorations lining the windows.

“What is this place?”

“Wait and see, Wife,” He said, helping me from the car with the calm smoothness that had inhibited him since our truce.

When we walked inside the store, employees rushed over to us and greeted my husband.

“Mr. Capasso!” One woman said, of course, the store only employed women, as she eagerly shook his hand. “My name is Elina, thank you so much for choosing us for your decorating needs. We’re so excited to work with you on your renovating project.”

“I’m anxious to see if you have what we’re looking for,” he replied, keeping his arm tight around my waist. “My wife, Arianna will be in charge of everything though. All decisions will need to go through her.”

“Of course!” Elina gushed, finally turning her attention to me and holding her hand out for me to shake. “I’m eager to see your visions and take them from paper to reality for you.”

“Me too,” I answered coolly, feigning like I knew what the hell she was talking about before raising an eyebrow at my husband.

“Give us a moment to look around, and then we can get started,” Nico said with a curt nod.

“What are we doing here?” I asked in a hushed tone. “And why do you insist on keeping me in the dark about everything?”

He rolled his eyes and smirked as we walked towards a wall that was covered floor to ceiling in tile backsplashes. “You’re a hard woman to impress, did you know that?” He mused.

“Nicolas,” I warned, leveling him with my best glare.

“You’re renovating Armarow, Wife.” He nodded to the wall and then the others around us. “Elina will be the lead designer who will work with architects and engineers and then come directly to you for approval on everything.”

My mouth hung open as his words swarmed inside of my head, “Renovating Armarow?” I shook my head and tried to grasp what he was telling me. “What’s wrong with it how it is currently?”

He cocked his eyebrow at me and smirked yet again, “You mean besides the offensive wallpaper in the dining room that burns your eyes so badly you can’t stand to eat in there?” I rolled my eyes at him and then glared. “It needs a fresh touch to it, and I want that touch to be yours.”
