As far as I can tell from my conversations with Dean, the plan my father put in place has not been set into motion yet, which means I still have time to figure out what it is and to make sure that Cat remains unscathed.

The door to my office flies open, and before she even sets foot inside, I know it’s her. My secretary is under strict instruction to let her come back at any time. In the beginning, Cat insisted on waiting for approval before just walking in, but she’s beginning to find the joy in surprising me. And because I love nothing more than seeing her excited or on her knees, I still pretend that I’m shocked every time.

“Kitten, I wasn’t expecting you. Come over here.” I pat my lap.

She stalks over to me and settles between my thighs, dropping a kiss to my lips, her hands on my cheek and her eyes sparkling.

“I missed you,” she says simply.

I give her a lazy smile. “I always miss you.”

Our movements are quick, deliberate. My pants are down, her skirt is up, and I’m inside her in under a minute, pounding her against my desk, loving on her, kissing her, tweaking her nipples, and making her cry out my name. I muffle her sounds with my hand, which she takes as an opportunity to bite and then lick and then bite again. And then we both come hard. In less than ten minutes, she’s completely unraveled me.

“What the fuck was that?” I laugh, falling to her chest.

“That’s what we kids call a quickie, Mr. Hanson,” she teases.

I bite my lip, but the smile slips through. “Oh, you teaching me some lessons now, Kitten?”

I pull myself off her and reach for a tissue so she can clean herself up. As I buckle my pants and settle back into my chair, my eyes don’t leave her. She settles herself on my desk and crosses her legs.

“Pizza tonight?” I ask, already aching to get out of this office and take her home.

She frowns. “Can’t. I have plans.”

“You’re gonna fuck me and not even feed me?” I joke.

“What can I say? I was horny and needed my fill.”

Chuckling, I pull her onto my lap and run my hands through her hair. “What are these plans you have?”

She winces, and the easy feelings are replaced with anxiety.

“I told Mia I’d meet her for dinner.”

It’s been over a month since I’ve seen or spoken to Mia. Not since that night at the club. I don’t know whether Cat regularly keeps in contact with her, but to be honest, it would surprise me if she did.

“You’ve been talking to her?” I ask, a bolt of jealousy coursing through me.

Cat shakes her head. “Not really. That’s why she wants to grab dinner. We haven’t seen each other in over a month.”

Not sure why they need to now, but I keep that to myself. I school my expression and calm my jealousy. “Right. Well, tell her I said hi. Will you be over after?”

Cat rakes her fingers through my hair and brushes a thumb against my cheek. “Don’t do that.”

“Do what?” I feign indifference.

“You know I will be. We haven’t spent a night apart in over a month.”

I sigh in resignation. I can’t hide myself from her like I can with everyone else. And I hate that I even tried. She doesn’t deserve that. “I’m sorry.”

Angling close, she presses her lips to mine softly. “Don’t apologize,” she murmurs, pulling back and settling on my desk again. “I get it. If it makes you feel any better, if you were going to dinner with an ex, I would lose my mind with jealousy.”

I smirk. “Oh yeah?”

Huffing a laugh, she swats at my chest. “Yeah. But there’s no reason for me to be jealous, right?”

I roll my eyes. “For you? No. Women who aren’t you don’t exist to me.”
