Tucker’s pickup drives up the driveway of the huge family garden as my eyes wander in contemplation of the exterior. I’m pretty sure there are more shrubs here than people in the city of Denver!

Tucker squeezes my knee with his right hand, bringing my attention back to him. “Close your mouth, babe, you’ll swallow flies. And look at what’s really worth looking at.”

I roll my eyes. I don’t think we’ve been using that expression since the last century, but he’s got a pretty good face, so I can hold my tongue.

“And what’s really worth looking at?” I ask anyway in a mocking voice.

He turns off the engine when he pulls up in front of the big mansion and smiles gently as he leans towards me. “Me.”

He stares at his cock hidden in his jeans, a masculine pride in his eyes.

“How do you expect me to look at it if I need a magnifying glass to do it, babe?”

I get out of the car, hearing him mumbling a curse. Another laugh escapes my mouth. I barely have time to think when I find myself pressed against the door, his face inches from mine. His breath hits my lips, but again, neither he nor I act. Building up desire when you want to jump on each other, fuck, that’s one thing I’m starting to enjoy.

“I don’t like what you just said,” he grumbles like a kid.

I tilt my head to the side. Touching a man’s ego is the worst thing you can do, but also the most delicious. Why deprive yourself of it?

“But you, I like you,” he continues, his face a little closer to mine.

He places his lips on mine for a second before pulling back, releasing me from his grip. I ignore the panicked beating of my heart and lick my lips as I watch him grab the fast-food bag.

“Wow, that was almost too romantic,” I murmur.

“I saw a guy say that once in a movie. Apparently chicks love that kind of line, did it work?”

I shrug, staring at the bag hungrily. “Some girls just love romantic words. Personally…offer me food every day, and I’ll fall in love.”

I laugh softly at my last words, but he doesn’t follow me. I repeat what I just said in my head, finally understanding. We stare at each other for a second, not knowing what to say. Falling in love. Love. Isn’t it too early to be talking about such bullshit? Of course it is. Probably…I don’t know.

I’ve been in love before, and my heart broke when Rafael died in that car. Will I be able to love again? To put all those thousands of pieces back together and make them one?

Tucker keeps his eyes locked on me, as if he too is asking this question, but from a different angle. I scratch my throat, embarrassed. He snaps out of his thoughts. “Come on, follow me before you eat me because I didn’t feed you.”

I stare at his molded butt in his jeans as he climbs the few stone steps to the huge dark wooden door.

Biting into these two beautiful apples wouldn’t be a bad idea…

I shake my head, trying to forget all the dirty thoughts that come to me.

My eyes fall on the large fountain and the statue in the center of it in front of the mansion. My discovery of Tucker’s group and his pack seems so far away, today. A lot has happened since then.

“Are you coming, or are you going to keep looking at the garden? If you want, I have shears to trim the bushes near the path,” Tucker yells from the doorway with a mocking smile.

I slowly move closer, looking angelic. “How about I cut the little thing hanging between your legs first?”

A growl comes from his mouth, making me burst out laughing.

“Twice you’ve referred to my cock in negative terms, I think you need me to refresh your memory.”

I can’t think of anything to say, remembering the last time he was on top of me, his cock deep in me.

Okay, “little” is not an appropriate adjective. But pissing him off is so much fun that I can’t help myself. He smiles when I don’t retort and opens the door, shifting to let me through.

I’ve barely stepped into the huge entrance when a wave of stress washes over me. How is this going to happen? What if his mother has a mental breakdown? How am I supposed to react?
