“I’m here boss, what do you need?” Victor was a big man. He always treated me with the utmost respect, and I never had reason to doubt his abilities, I needed all the help I could get. I stepped back two paces to stand beside him.

“I was just questioning these two men about Eloise. They were telling me that she was in here a few times with Sienna. I can’t imagine why they would say that but I’m curious to know.”

The other man tried to slip out the back door, but Victor was on him quickly, dragging him back by the scruff of his shirt and tossing him in the corner with his friend who seemed to shake a little despite his size.

“They’re all yours, I’m right here.” Victor took a step back then and let me do my business.

“So, you were telling me about Eloise and Sienna. I don’t want things to get ugly here but if I have to call the police neither one of you will be moving until they arrive. I have a few connections and it’s unlikely that this business will be opening tomorrow or any other day. I’d advise you to start talking.”

“Please, I don’t know anything, my partner Luis, he’s not here, he knows Sienna. The other one, Eloise, she's only been in here a few times. I don’t think she knows what’s going on as

Sienna has never involved her, but I don’t know. This is my livelihood; you can’t have me shut down. I have no way to take care of my girlfriend and our children please.”

“Where can I find this Luis?” I threw a hundred-dollar bill on the counter.

He didn't miss it. “I don’t know, I saw him about a week ago. He and Sienna are friends if you get my meaning. But don’t say I told you so. He comes in when he feels like it, he’s a wild card just like that woman Sienna. Unpredictable. I don’t pay no mind; I just work here. If I see him, I will let you know if you leave your number.”

He was all business again, his partner stepped forward and grabbed the money. I threw another couple hundred-dollar bills on the counter. “If you do, you wil get a couple thousand dol ars, and I’ll pay him too, but you can’t tel Sienna, if you do, I will shut this place down fast and you won’t like the end result.”

He nodded his head as I stepped back and walked out the door, Victor at my heels. “I don’t understand sir.”

“It’s too much to explain right now. I don’t understand it at all right now either. Right now, I need to find Eloise, but first I need a few minutes to listen to something on my phone. If you could have a listen with me that would be great.”

Victor nodded. I was thankful to have him in my service, he was faithful and loyal to me, after years of his family working for ours, he was one of the few people I trusted.

We spent the next hour listening to a series of recordings that Eloise made of her and Sienna talking. It was hard to hear in spots, but I immediately got the idea of what was happening. I was shocked by what I heard rolling off Sienna's lips.

Not only was she pregnant with another man’s baby, but she was lying to Danny about everything including her feelings for him. She stole from him and I, and Eloise had been telling the truth all along.

I felt like a first-class idiot and regretted all the bad things I’d said to Eloise, and for believing Sienna was such a good person. When it was done, I knew I had to get to Eloise.

“I need to find out where my brother went.”

Ten minutes later Victor had his location from his driver, it was handy having such closely connected hired help. “He’s at his Aspen house.”

“Great, where is Sienna?”

“She’s there too. I’m not sure what’s going on. I imagine Eloise is keeping her mouth shut until she has a chance to talk to Danny alone.”

Eloise was playing a dangerous game, considering we didn't really know that much about Sienna or her connections and what she was capable of. Her words, the things she said in those recordings proved she was not only deceitful and a liar who was going to ruin my brother and families lives but she was crazy.

“I need the jet, Victor.”

“On it boss. Give me a half hour.”

An hour later I was boarding the family's private plane headed for Aspen. I spent the flight kicking myself for everything I’d ever said to Eloise when I now knew that Sienna was the one who’d been behind it all.

As I thought back to when I’d accused Eloise of her dirty deeds, it was actually Sienna. During that time, she’d come out of nowhere, befriending Danny and a few of our other friends. She’d been so smooth she’d made everything so easy back then.

When I came to Danny accusing Eloise of stealing from him, Sienna had been there with her friendly and kindhearted nature to sweep up the mess, at his elbow at every turn. She was setting him up.

Once he took my advice and got rid of Eloise, Sienna was there as the best friend, someone to lean on and I’d been thankful at the time that my brother wasn't alone. Danny wasn’t the kind of man that handled being alone too well like I did, but that was quickly changing.

After a time, Sienna managed to win all my brother’s over, and their girlfriends and the rest of our family. I was disgusted with myself for not seeing her for what she really was. I listened to those recordings over and over again.

Eloise confessed I was the father, that it had been a while since she’d been with another man, and hearing that I hated myself for not trusting and believing in what she told me.

I made myself a promise that once this was over, at the very least, no matter what happened, I was going to make everything up to Eloise and win her heart and trust back again. She didn't deserve a man like me as the father of her child, but that was not something either of us could change.
