My boots dug into the tiles, but he wrapped his arm around my waist and easily shoved me through the crowd. “Get off me, asshole.”

His laughter rumbled out like a threat. “So much sass.” He gripped my chin hard enough to leave bruises. “I’ll enjoy making you beg and scream.”

I tried to elbow him off as he dragged me through the black curtains of the private party room. Smoke filled the air, obscuring the indecent and filthy fun other patrons were having on leather couches and chairs stationed across the black floor. Their heavy panting and moans painted a vivid picture, though.

As the mystical drug invaded my system, my skin grew hot and sensitive, and my body throbbed. Vox led me to the far left of the room and opened a door hidden within the ebony wall.

I stumbled into a room shrouded in shadows except for blue lights glowing from the ceiling. A large navy sectional covered one wall, and a bed dripping with silk and satin was against another. Liquor bottles and glasses stocked the bar on the right.

Knots twisted in my gut as I swayed. This room must have been used for special guests who preferred more privacy.

Vox yanked me around, his shirt already gone and lust pouring off him like a bursting well. “Don’t act like you’re not feeling the Rapture.” He ran his fingers over my collarbone, teasing the cleavage along the top of my shirt. “This feels good, doesn’t it? Just relax, sweetheart. You’ll enjoy it better.”

Those words—I’d heard them many times before—slammed into my skull and unleashed a flood of rage. That crimson wave blasted through the fog, and my muscles heeded my command.

I crushed my fist into Vox’s chin, and he stumbled into a table. I didn’t give him a moment to recover before my foot connected with his ribs and then his leg. He crashed to his knees, and with a battle cry, I lifted my boot again to deliver a strike to his head. With this much fury and power behind it, I wouldn’t be surprised if his hard skull caved in.

Steel bands suddenly wrapped around my arms and yanked me away from Vox. My feet kicked and flailed in the air as my new attacker spun, slammed me face first into a table, and then whipped me onto my back.

Pain ricocheted through my forehead where it hit the table, and stars popped along my blurry vision. A male demon held me down as a female slid her long fingers over my chin, prying my jaw open.

Oh, fuck.

She poured a thick, pungent liquid down my throat, and I bucked and gagged, but she held her hand over my mouth until I swallowed. Fire seared my veins, and I whimpered as the drug hit me so hard my back arched off the table.

“Let her go, Levi,” she instructed, flicking her electric-pink hair over her shoulder as a malicious smile curved her pierced lips. “It’s got a hold of her.”

What’s got a hold of me?

Levi removed his arms and backed away, wiping his forehead and brushing back locks of blond hair tipped in dark purple. The torn jeans, holey black t-shirt, tattoos, smudged liner, and thick leather bracelets made him look like a rock star. “She put up a fight.”

“She did indeed.” Vox appeared over his shoulder and licked the blood from his split lip. “A real wild one. I can’t wait to see how much fun she is.” He dragged me to the end of the table and fit his hips between my legs.

My body reacted without my consent, and throbs spiraled through my core. “I’m going to kill you.”

He laughed. “I doubt that. You’ll be begging me for more soon.”

“She’s a pretty one.” The woman leered as she ran her fingers through my hair. “We can’t pass up this opportunity.”

Levi smacked her hand away and shoved Vox back, letting my legs dangle. “She’s not a toy, Vox and Danica. She’s a bitten shifter.”

Those names suddenly registered, prodding at something in my memories. When I’d hidden in the employee lounge’s bathroom, those two demons discussing a shipment of what I assumed was Rapture had mentioned something about Danica and Vox being loose cannons. One said they got Levi, the other demon in the room, to keep them in line.

Levi grabbed my arms and yanked me up. I stumbled into him and groaned while his hands slid down my arms. Bolts of pleasure sizzled and sparked everywhere he touched.

“Fuck all of you,” I mumbled.

How much Rapture did they shove down my throat? I wiped my chin, smearing a purplish liquid on my palm. This wasnotthe same magical drug they sold out in the club.

Was this something more potent for nightworlders? Or maybe just shifters? They assumed I was a shifter…

The walls spun as my knees gave out. An arm caught me around the middle and dragged me into a hard chest. “Come on, Levi. Just a little fun.” Vox’s fingers wrapped around my neck, grazing my tattoo.

Painful electricity crackled through it, clearing some of the fog in my brain.

Vox yanked his hand away and shook it out. “What the hell was that?”

Danica stood in front of me and leaned down to get a better look at the ink staining my neck.
