"Too fast?"

"Not for me . . . I'm just thinking of Tina. We need her full blessing, and if that will take time, I'll wait."

Daniel loved that she was instantly on the same page and that she knew how much Tina meant to him. It was just one more sign that she was the one.

"What about Ben?"

"He likes you a lot, and I think he'd be OK with it. He's an easy-going kid, considering everything that's happened."

Daniel smiled and continued to hold her; everything was right again. He knew he had to run everything by Tina and that it wouldn't be happening tomorrow or anything, but it was nice to know that's where he and Anna both wanted to end up.

They gradually got dressed, and she curled beside him on the couch.

"I could never thank you enough for what you did . . . nobody ever did anything like that for me," she said softly.

"I want him to pay for what he did to you, and I don't want it happening to any other women."

"You're a good man, Daniel. I'm so lucky you're mine."

"I got to look out for women cause I'm raising one and I'm madly in love with another," he laughed modestly.

Daniel had to go back to work after Anna fed him some lunch, and she went to pick up Ben from playschool. The sky looked bluer, and he felt light on his feet for the rest of the afternoon. The whole world was a better place just because he had Anna back.

Daniel didn't want to waste any time getting the ball rolling in Atlanta, so he looked up the name of the D.A. and called her on his coffee break. When the lawyer answered, he hardly even knew how to put it.

"Janice Collins here, may I help you?"

"Hey there . . . I'm the guy who recorded Trent Waters."

"I wasn't sure if we'd hear from you," she said, stunned.

"I'm Daniel Goffman. I want him prosecuted for what he did, so if you want me to testify, then I will."

"We'll do our best to bring about that result. I have to say; you're lucky it's legal to record conversations without consent in this state. In other states this could have been thrown out," she informed him.

"Thank God it won't be."

"I'm still going through everything here, but I want to know something about your involvement in this situation."

"Anything."

"What is your relationship with the woman Trent Waters was married to?"

"She's my new girlfriend. Does that change anything?"

"No, I just wanted to know why you'd do this."

"I did this for her. When she tried to proceed with this when it happened, she was ignored by the police and accused of trying to extort money . . . she needed someone to stop him. Trent was having her followed here in Brooke way, and her home was vandalized."

"So there's more to this than I know. Could you come down to my office and give a full deposition? I'm not sure if I'll need you to testify yet."

"I'll do whatever I have to. Is Friday, OK? I need to make arrangements for my daughter."

"That's fine. How about 1 pm? If Anna could come along too, I'd love to speak with her as well obviously."

"I'll ask her; I'm pretty sure she'll come. Is there a chance he'll go down for this?" he asked, just wanting to know the odds.
