“What’s the matter?” he asked.

“Nothing.”

“That is not a nothing face. Look at yourself. You promised, or do I get to keep tickling?”

Aria’s gaze met his. Tears filled her eyes.

“I’ve got you, baby. I’ve always got you. Nothing bad is going to happen. It’s just you and me here, right now.”

Her lip wobbled and it made him hate her mother once again. He would never like that woman. He fucking despised her. The shit she had said to pollute Aria’s mind irritated the fuck out of him. He and Joan should never be alone. Especially if he had a gun. It wouldn’t end well.

Her lip wobbled and she looked at herself.

“Now, tell me what you see,” he said.

“Grant, please.”

“I’ll tell you what I see. I see a beautiful woman with gorgeous big tits. They were designed to cushion my head. Those nipples.” He groaned. “Perfect for sucking. Then let’s talk about those hips.” They had bruises on from where he held her in place last night. “They are designed for my hands. Look, my fingers match.”

Aria giggled.

He noticed the tears fell down her cheeks.

“Don’t even get me started on these thighs. I love how tight they feel wrapped around my waist.” He moved his hands toward her ass. “And this ass, I love spreading it open and seeing my cock sinking into your pussy.”

“I don’t see any of that,” Aria said. “I see an ugly, fat waste of space.” She covered her face.

“No.” Grant turned her toward him. “They’re wrong, Aria. They are so wrong. You’re beautiful, you’re gorgeous, and you’re curvy, exactly how I want you to be. There’s nothing wrong with you.” He cupped her face and kissed her.

She tried to fight but she was no match for him. Aria wrapped her arms around him.

“Every single day I want you to stand in front of the mirror and I want you to see what I see. I want you to think about how you would treat a child of your own if she looked like you.”

“Don’t,” Aria said.

“Your mother is a fucking terrible person, Aria. Your dad should have stood up for you, or your sister. They didn’t.” Grant pulled back and forced her to look at him. “I know what it’s like, having someone tell you every single day that you’re not good enough. That once people realize what a waste of space you are, they’d get rid of you.”

Aria frowned. “Who said that to you? Bull?”

“No, my old man. He told me I was a mistake. That he should have killed me when I was born.”

Aria whimpered. “No. He’s wrong. So very wrong.”

Grant smiled at her.

“Exactly, and your mom is so very fucking wrong. You don’t have to listen to her vile shit anymore. You’re a grown-ass woman. She’s nothing. It’s time for you to live for yourself, Aria. You don’t need to do anything to make her love you. You’re perfect the way you are. Everyone else can go fuck themselves.”

“Why are you doing this?” she asked.

“Because it is time for you to see the truth. You need to see what I see.” Grant ran his hands down to her ass, pulling her closer to him.

“Is this so you’ll stop me going to the gym?” she asked.

“No, this is for you to realize you are so fucking worthy. You shouldn’t listen to that woman. She pissed me off so much.”

Aria rested her head against his chest and Grant kissed the top of her head. Glancing at their reflection, he admired the curve of her back. He ran his fingers up her spine, then back down again.

She pulled away to look into his eyes. “Your dad was wrong about you, Grant.”
