Jase turned to him and the smile faded a little. It was nice to see he’d made an impression the last time they met.

“Grant,” Jase said. His gaze slid down toward Wanda and instead of telling him to get out, he merely crouched down.

He expected Wanda to go and greet Jase but she didn’t. Instead, she stayed at his side, and he was so fucking pleased with that. Hah. The dog wanted him.

Jase smiled and stood. “You want to see me?”

“Yes.”

“Let me take you to my office.”

“The dog, sir,” Ben said.

“The dog clearly stays.” Jase walked to his office and Grant moved with Wanda at his side.

They stepped inside Jase’s office, which wasn’t the door he’d come through with Aria.

“What is Aria doing here?” Grant asked, more interested in her reasons for being there.

“I can’t discuss clients with you, Grant.”

“Client. She’s using this place?”

Jase sighed and sat down. “You’re already breaking rules with your dog. I won’t be discussing people who visit here.”

Grant sat down and Wanda sat beside him. They looked at Jase.

“Just so you know, it doesn’t say anywhere on the building that dogs aren’t allowed.”

“Grant, it’s a gym. Dogs at gyms could get hurt.”

“I came to see you.”

“What can I do for you?”

“I want a job.”

Jase laughed. And continued to laugh.

He waited.

Eventually, the laughter died down, but Grant wasn’t entertained. In fact, he was pissed off. Before his brother’s visit, he was handling shit fine, and now he was at the end of his tether.

“You’re not joking.”

“I’m not joking. You’re hiring. I want a job.”

“The job description is for a personal trainer, Grant. Not for … I don’t even know what you do.”

“I can train on the job.”

Jase shook his head.

“Come on, what do you need me to do?” Grant asked.

“First of all, you’d need to follow the rules, and to do things properly, not how you think they should be done.”

“I can do that.”
