Suspended. From the club. He’d never heard anything so fucking stupid in his life. After locking the main door, he made his way back to the sitting room.

Wanda waited for him. There was a little whimper and he crouched down and started to stroke her fur. “What the fuck do you think that was about?” he asked.

He was tempted to call Maddie to piss his brother off, but decided against it.

This was classic Bull behavior. It wasn’t the first time he’d been pissed and made a judgement call without thinking about it, and he doubted it would be the last. There was no way Bull could suspend him from the club. It just wasn’t possible.

Wanda continued to whimper and he sighed.

“Are you needing a walk, girl?” he asked.

Another whimper followed by a head tilt.

“Yeah, let’s go for a walk. I don’t want to stay locked up in this apartment either.” He grabbed her walking lead, attached it to her collar, and left the apartment.

The moment he stepped outside, he gritted his teeth. It was fucking freezing. Glancing down at Wanda, he wondered if she was too cold to go for this walk, or just needed to squat down outside. He saw something precious—her tail wagged—and he was going for a walk. They walked down the long staircase, heading out toward the town. It was dark, as it was quite late.

The diner was still open since it did serve the late-shift workers. Grant was tempted to head in, and then he realized he had ordered a pizza. He was about to head back when Wanda whimpered again, so no hot pizza for him, if they even bothered to leave it outside.

Walking through town, he came to a stop outside the gym. He thought about Maddie and wondered if she was still visiting. Maddie had decided it was time to lose some weight, after Bull created a scene in order to push her away, but whatever the reason, it had sent her to the gym.

He wasn’t too fond of the gym member, Jase, not that there was anything wrong with him. From what Maddie had told him, Jase was a good guy.

“You’re always so fucking sorry, but I’m getting tired of this shit, Grant. When are you going to grow up?”He couldn’t help but think of Bull’s accusation earlier. Hewasfucking grown up. So, he didn’t always show up at the garage, but what was the fucking point? His brother had ordered him to go to the mechanics course. Fixing cars wasn’t something he wanted to do.

He was good at club work—fighting, working with his hands, doing shit. He was good at all of it, but working at the garage was fucking boring.

“You’re always so fucking sorry, but I’m getting tired of this shit, Grant. When are you going to grow up?”Once again, Bull got into his head. He was a fucking grown-up and had been for a long time.

Wanda whimpered again, and he glanced down at her. “Do you think I should go and ask for a job here?” he asked.

Working at the kennels through the day and the gym at night. It sounded doable.

He stepped into the building and as soon as he did, the man on the counter looked at the dog and shook his head.

“We don’t allow animals in the building.”

“Then why call yourself a fucking gym?” Grant asked. Where he went, Wanda went, and he’d have it out with anyone who tried to force his dog out in the cold. “Where’s Jase?”

“I mean it. That dog is not allowed inside. It carries diseases and is just gross.” The man named Ben, according to his name tag, swatted his hand as if to ward off whatever Wanda had.

Grant was not in a good mood. He still wore the Chaos and Carnage MC leather cut, but he was possibly the first club member to ever be suspended.

He was pissed off. There was nothing funny about what had just happened. Leaning on the counter of the desk, he curled his finger, as if he was drawing him close.

Ben stepped closer and Grant grabbed the front of his jacket and yanked on it. “Listen to me, fucker, my dog stays, and if you’ve got an issue with it, I’ll beat you black and fucking blue so your eyes swell shut, and then you don’t have to see my dog. Now, where is Jase?”

As if his request had conjured him up, Jase stepped out of a side door, with none other than Aria Taylor. Her face was bright red.

“I’ll see you the day after tomorrow,” Jase said.

Aria nodded.

Grant looked at her. She hadn’t seen him. Why was Aria at the gym? What the fuck was happening in town?

“Sir, there’s a gentle … man here to see you.”

Grant nearly burst out laughing, and if it wasn’t for Aria’s disappearing ass, he would have. Right now, he had a whole load of questions.
