She was surprised. “So, I am being rigid.”

Chao said, “Mother, be less of an omega and more of a grandmother. It will be easier for everyone. Feng’s happy. He’s calm. Taio is beginning to show signs of being a late-blooming alpha. Benjiro is a wonderful addition to their unit. Olly is passionate and has steady links to the community. Her brother-in-law is incredibly wealthy and powerful. She does not need Feng to be secure. Minoru has offered her a place to live if she needs it. Benjiro is also very financially secure. The sumo school and his other interests are successful. Taio will eventually work his way up the fight roster.” Chao smiled. “They are a solid grouping and not one I would want to pick a fight with.”

Fen sighed and rubbed her forehead. “They are a good match, but it is too late to do anything about it tonight.”

Chao nodded. “Yes, but not too late to bring the expectant mother a present for growing your great-grandchild with such care.”

She smiled slightly. “That’s right. She’s growing a new omega.”

Fang said, “Yes, but the mother is the important part here. The omega will not manifest for years. Olly is here now.”

Fen nodded. “You are right. She is the one graciously presenting me with a great-grandchild, and I should treat her with respect.”

Her family nodded, but she knew they were watching her warily. She would just need to prove that Olly was safe around her. She really had to start trusting this recent batch of alphas. It seemed that they could pick their own mates and choose good ones. Now she just had to backtrack her arrogance and the horrible things she had said while she was irritated. Her relationship with her grandson was at stake.

Olly stretched and was pulled back against Feng. He murmured at her neck, “You survived.”

She chuckled. “The party or the three of you?”

Taio pressed his face between her breasts. “Best. Night. Ever.”

Olly sighed. “Who gave you permission for a growth spurt?”

He looked up at her. “You really thought I was a beta?”

“That is what the press releases said.” She frowned. “Don’t tell me that they lied.”

Taio licked at one nipple, then the other. “I got the genotyping after I joined the arena. Slow grower.”

“You couldn’t have told me before?”

He grinned and slid his thigh between hers. “This was more fun.”

“You are just saying that because you got to use your knot last night.”

He leaned and caught her lips for a kiss. “You guessed my secret.”

Feng laughed and ran his hand down her body. “He asked me to take him on as my apprentice and explained his situation a few years ago. When he wanted to tell you, he did.”

“Where’s Benjiro?”

“He had to get the trainees up today. They will be travelling for a bout this weekend.”

“Wow. That must be some vehicle.” She moaned. “Taio, stop playing.”

“But, I would prefer to continue.”

She whined. “I am hungry.”

Feng tutted. “I told you to have more last night.”

“Every time you said that, someone hauled me to the dance floor, and I couldn’t say no.” The sheer amount of alphas that had danced with her had made her head spin, but everyone in the family now knew what her scent was.

Taio chuckled. “Why didn’t you say no?”

“Because they picked me up and set me down on the dance space. You guys are bullies when you want to get your groove on.”
