She met the horse named Mirabel, got sterilized, and then went looking for hooves. She kept her voice calm and her hands gentle, but fifteen minutes later, she had the first filly and left it for Alita to clean up and get breathing. She gave her calm instructions, too. The second filly had to be carefully turned at the end of her reach, but she slid into the world, and her little lungs got to work. The mare came over and nuzzled them, so everyone stepped away. Erik cleared the blood from her, and he blinked. “Do you often dress like that?”

Olly looked at the dress tied around her waist. “No. Today is a first. I need to get some practical stuff, but one of my alphas wants me to look like a model and congratulate me publicly after a win. If I congratulate the other one, it will be a high five. When he fights, he’s bigger.”

She tried to unpick the knot and managed to get her wrinkled dress on her shoulders.

Alita asked, “Did your alphas let you get a tattoo?”

“Oh, it’s not a tattoo. It’s a mark to draw my specific alphas to me in case they are stupid and can’t believe their mate is a beta.”

Erik smiled. “So, one of your mates is the dragon?”

“Yes, and the other is the storm.”

“Wait. You are a beta? I thought you were just a tall omega. You feel like an omega, have a scent pack like an omega.”

“Nope. Just a beta with a mark. There are betas that aren’t marked, but they are living or working at close quarters to their alphas.”

Alita nodded. “Like Nora.”

Erik chuckled. “And my mom.”

Alita blinked. “Right. She turned.”

Olly nodded. “It is localized to this city and surrounding area, by the way. It also seems to be alphas who have a second form. They are moving here in a steady stream, but many are local.”

She brought up an image on her phone. “This is my sister’s mark.”

Minoru had sent her the image of the advertisement because she and Polly shared a face.

Alita laughed. “Oh, my god. I didn’t actually look. You are Polly’s sister! I was at her wedding, and our beta was the photographer.”

Olly smiled. “He’s very kind.”

“He’s a bully when chasing the right lighting.” Alita grinned. “Well, it is nice to meet another practical female mated to a dragon. Did he do that thing where he barfed fire down your throat?”

“Yeah. He buffed up a lot of scarring, but it took care of some morning sickness.”

Alita suddenly hugged her. Erik looked surprised.

Olly held her and stroked the omega’s hair.

“You came for my horse.” Alita kept hugging her.

“Of course. Caber and Jess and Melbourne took me in. Jess is another beta who became an omega for her mates.”

Alita looked at her with wide eyes. “She is?”

“She is. She’s their match.”

Alita snickered. “Olyna is going to lose her shit. Omegas are everything to her.”

“Yeah, Feng’s grandmother as well. I am a lowly beta. I don’t deserve her precious grandson.”

Benjiro growled. “That isn’t what she said.”

Olly snorted. “Not while you were there.” She lifted her phone and played the recording.

They stood there, and Alita looked appalled. Benjiro looked furious, and Erik blinked. “Wait, is that Zumu Fen?”
