The driver took them to a rural property, and Olly smiled at the Japanese-style architecture. It was a whole collection of buildings, including a stable with fenced-in fields and exercise posts with horses prancing and plodding around. Benjiro’s and Feng’s cars were parked out front. Her bike was nowhere to be seen.

There was another building, and when the door opened, she heard unmistakable shouts. She turned to Benjiro and stared at him. She looked him up and down. “Why did you get skinny?”

He laughed. “I can bulk out when needed. It is part of the thunder beast.”

“How many wrestlers do you have on site?”

“Three professionals and nine apprentices.”

“Wow.”

Benjiro put an arm around her and led her toward the house. “Let’s show you where you are going to be living.”

She smiled and then had a pang of regret. Here, she felt wanted. With Feng and Taio, not so much. Benjiro was making room for her.

She kicked off her heels by the door and turned them around. Benjiro smiled.

The other two followed them. They walked down the long hall, and he showed her the room with the futons lined up neatly on the floor. She was shown extra bedrooms, and then Benjiro said something she didn’t think she would hear. “If you need to be alone, you take the time you need.”

Well, the sumo training explained a lot about how he treated her. He had patience. Patience and focus were key components of the art of sumo.

Feng touched her back, and she looked at him. She couldn’t read his expression, but a wave of remorse ran through her suddenly.

She swayed, and he caught her. It had been a heavy hit of emotion, and she now had an empty stomach.

Feng looked at her, and she sent him calm understanding.

He sighed. “I don’t want you to be calm. I want you to be mad. Upset, furious, anything.”

She asked Benjiro, “Is there somewhere I can get something to eat?”

Taio said, “You ate a ton of food.”

“I barfed. I got upset, and I hurled. It might happen a lot.” She shrugged. “I have no idea.”

Taio frowned. “You didn’t say anything.”

“I didn’t want Madame Fen to have the satisfaction.” She pinched her nose. “Feng’s grandmother doesn’t want me to take your place in Feng’s affections. That is why she was being a bully. She likes you and thinks you are good for him.”

Taio said, “What does she think about you?”

“She thinks... never mind what she thinks.” She looked at Benjiro. “Can I take a nap somewhere? This is a bit much.”

He nodded and headed back to the room with the huge futon. She gripped his wrist. “Not there. I am taking you up on your offer of alone time.”

He paused and nodded. “Just a moment.”

He went into his room and got her a sleeping robe. He handed it to her and led her to a room across the hall. “Here you are. I will show the others around and where the obstacle course is being set up for you three. Then take them to the stable.”

She nodded. “I can’t go there anyway, so that’s fine. I will probably feel better after a nap. My body has felt unbalanced lately. Probably since no one has let me fight to get my muscles working.”

Olly retreated into the room, closed the door on her mates, and removed her dress and underthings, setting them aside. If any clothing felt like it didn’t belong to her, it was the stuff she had gotten that morning.

She smiled slightly. Maybe if she needed to hit someone, she could visit Molly and her pack. They were always good for a workout.

She wrapped herself in the robe and crawled onto the bed, laying her head down and falling asleep while she grappled with being dismissed by the omega. She just wanted to go back to Polly’s and be with her sister.

She woke up after dark. A blanket had been pulled up to her shoulder, and her hair was in a loose ponytail. That wasn’t creepy.
