“Then give me a reason to believe you won’t act like one,” he bites back.
“You’re infuriating,” she shrieks, throwing her hands in the air.
I exchange an annoyed glance with Alex before saying, “Are we ready? Or are you two going to fight all night long?”
That gets me two hard, angry glares from two terrifying, angry people. Probably a mistake.
“Let’s get into position,” Alex says, “and hope that David won’t waste any time trying to get Brooke back.”
We disperse, testing our earpieces once we’re all in our hiding places. Alex can see us through the cameras, which is the only reason Felix was willing to let Willow out of his sight. His comment about her needing a babysitter earned him a hard punch to the shoulder, but I’ve gotta say, he kinda deserved it.
Once I’ve settled into my spot, I keep my gun in my hand. Alex just turned Brooke’s phone on, so there’s no way David will get here this fast, but it helps me feel more prepared.
Please take me. Use me. Take control of me like you said you would. I want you to.
I’m not sure why Jade’s words pop into my head. However much I want to replay every second I’ve spent worshiping her body over the past week, I need to stay focused.
She looked so disappointed earlier.
With a quiet sigh, I pull my phone out of my pocket.
Dominic:I’ve been busy the past couple days. I’m sorry.
Jade:You don’t owe me anything.
Dominic:I just want to make it clear that I’m not done with you yet.
Jade:Oh, grumpy.
I wait, frowning at my screen. Is that all she has to say?
Jade:I never doubted it for a second.
Smiling, I pocket my phone. Maybe I misread the look on her face earlier.
Or maybe she misses you.
Don’t give yourself ideas, Dom.
“Anything?” I ask Alex, desperate for a distraction even though I know it’s still too early.
“No,” he replies. “I’ll let you know when I see movement.”
I groan inwardly, resting my head against the wall. How am I supposed to keep my thoughts off of Jade? Why is it this fucking hard to?
Eventually, I give in, letting my mind wander to the last time I had my hands on her. Her skin felt so soft, so smooth, and I loved how her body practically bloomed under my touch. Every time she moaned, the sound went straight to my dick, and it made it almost impossible to make myself wait. I’ve wanted her so badly, for so long, and I genuinely never thought I’d have her.
She said she doesn’t want to involve emotions, but I’m pretty sure it’s too late for both of us. And at this point, I have no idea how I’m supposed to let her go when this comes to an end.
“Car,” Alex says after a while. “On the road. It just pulled off to the side at the property’s edge. And it looks like there’s someone making their way through the woods to the west of the house.”
“Got it,” Felix says. “Keep us updated as they get closer.”
I wait impatiently, tapping my fingers against my leg.This is it. It could really be over after tonight.
It should’ve been over a long time ago. It would’ve been if I’d listened to Felix when we first met David. We could’ve saved Brooke a lot of pain and the rest of us a lot of hassle.
“The guy who was in the woods is moving across the yard now,” Alex says, but he barely penetrates my thoughts.
