Page 7 of Forgive My Sin

After calling the doctor to come check on Abilene, I sat in my office in silence, needing time. Time to come to terms with what my body and mind were telling me.

Never in a million years did I believe a quad relationship could work when Zakar proposed the idea. As a possessive man, I didn’t think I could share, but I promised him I’d give it a shot. So did Valerian. We both kept our skepticism to ourselves, it seems. It’s been years since any of us have been with a woman. They’re a liability in our business, and frankly, the women in our circle are far too high maintenance.

Abilene Bondar.

As poor and innocent as the day is long.

Except she’s not that innocent. She’s seen things. Endured things.

We may not even be what she needs.

Until she started coming to the church, I hadn’t given her a second thought in years. I hadn’t wanted to. But from the minute I heard her voice again, I knew she was the one. The one who would bring us together and create the family we were unwilling to admit we wanted.

After holding her in my arms, feeling my body awaken, and then seeing her with Val, it was then I knew. I didn’t feel an ounce of jealousy that he had her naked flesh against his.

I felt arousal.

More than that.

It was physical but somehow emotional as well.

When I picture Abilene and I in bed together, just the two of us, I don’t feel the same as when the three of us were caring for her together.

“You busy?” Zakar’s voice draws me from my thoughts.

“Were you jealous?” I ask him, spinning in my chair to face where he’s standing.

“No.” I’m glad he doesn’t feign ignorance. “If anything, I wanted to lay in bed with her, all three of us.”

Nodding, I move on, or I might not be able to finish what we need to do before we can claim her as our own. “What did you find out?”

“You’re not going to like it,” he warns with a grin.

“I rarely do.”

“Otar and Paata Bondar are in debt up to their ears and have been trying to avoid Arman Feare.” I raise a brow at the name. Arman is from Armenia and not a man to be messed with. Last I heard, he was visiting family in the United States. “They borrowed money from him about a year ago and haven’t paid it back. I suspect they were getting Abi ready to sell to him.”

Sitting up straighter, he’s gained my full attention. “That means they may not give her up so easily.” Zak agrees. “Get in touch with Arman,” I tell him. “Set up a video meeting so I can speak with him. At his convenience, of course. I want this to go smoothly.” I’ve dealt with the Feare family in the past; they’ve always been reasonable. But I’d like to get a feel for what’s transpired between him and the Bondar brothers before offering up an amicable solution.

“There’s this as well.” Zak hands me an envelope containing an invitation. “I could still say we’re coming.”

Reading it over, it’s a charity ball for a new children’s clinic in Poti. “Do it,” I say. The organizers invite us to nearly all their events because we generously donate. Their events are highly televised, so I have no doubt that rumor will quickly spread that Abilene has taken up with three men and make its way back to the ears of the men in her residence.

“We’re really doing this then?” Zak’s expression is unreadable as I study him.

“It was your suggestion.”

“You and Val had reservations about it.”

“We did,” I respond circumspectly. “Mostly because we are three headstrong and dominant men. Are you having doubts?”

“None, especially after seeing you grapple with yourself over her, and Val is already willing to drop at her feet. The real test will be whether she can handle our desires or not.” Walking out, he leaves me to contemplate, and I begin to wonder if Abilene isn’t traumatized enough as it is, thanks to her family.

What if being with us only makes it worse for her?

Fuck.

With that thought in mind, I text Val, asking him to come down. Since his feelings were similar to mine, I’d also like his opinion on this. I know what Zakar will say. It’s all in my head. But they haven’t heard how she feels about having a man who is not her husband touch her body. I don’t know where she gets her ideals from, but Abilene does not want to be intimate until she’s wed. She wants to be pure for the man she commits herself to.
