“I enjoy the arrangement with Callie,” I tell him honestly. “I don't think I want to stop coming here.”

Sebastian's eyes are filled with love, tender care, and fear.

“You look afraid,” I whisper.

Sebastian shakes his head, his eyes closing slowly.

“I feel like I'm watching you slip out of my grasp. I'm truly scared of losing you, even though I can see it happening right before my eyes.”

“We can work through this,” I tell him.

“We can?”

“Yes. I don't...” I begin to say. “I haven't stopped loving you.”

My eyes are on his and my heart thuds as I look into the depth of his eyes.

“But I don't think I can ever—” He tries to say this as if he finally understands what I am implying.

I give him a small smile.

"I'll spend the rest of my life making it up to you." He adds.

I reach out my hands and bring them into his. Suddenly, everything falls into place. The room appears brighter, and I feel the dull ache in my heart begin to disappear.

Sebastian gets up. I mirror his movement as my body is attuned to his. He slides his arms around me and holds me close in a loving embrace.

"I think with time I'll forget about it."

Sebastian nods. He tilts my face up and says, “If you give me the chance to make this right, I'll never stop making it up to you. Let me in, Paislee. Please.”

I smile at him and stand on my tiptoes to initiate a sweet, wet kiss filled with forgiveness, love, and desire.

When we break the kiss, we both have matching smiles on our faces.

“You are amazing.” He tells me.

“Is that why you came back?” I ask him with a smile.

“Yes. I was trying to make things right. Trying to fix this wonderful delicate thing I had ruined.”

“You did not. We are still here, standing tall.”

I step back, but Sebastian drags me back against his body. I giggle.

“I can't believe we are about to start a family. We'd better get matching rings to go with that.”

I gasp, shocked beyond words.

"What—" I squeak.

“I mean…” Sebastian starts, looking a little shocked at his own words. “I love you very much and would like to make you my wife. We fit like a puzzle, you and me. You make amazing pancakes for Callie, and we both have learned how to cope with her autism.” He says it as if he just realized it.

I blink.

“Are you proposing right now?”

Sebastian blinks back and then shrugs.
