“I pulled a lot of strings,” he confessed as he smiled with so much pride. “Apparently when you’re a Dark Lord and lead one of the strongest mafia cartels up in the surface world, people move rather quickly to get shit done.”
I understood without further explanation.
“So blackmail,” I concluded, and I enjoyed Alpha Axel’s laughter as he walked over to us with Juniper in tow. “See? She’s catching onto our tactics.”
“Sadly,” Asher noted and leaned in to whisper in my ear, “Don’t act like me.”
“Right, right.” I rolled my eyes just as the screen landed on the home menu, displaying all the functions before the regular dash.
“Ready to activate her?” Asher offered, and I slowly nodded before clearing my throat.
“Say your name first and what you wish to call her,” Asher instructed.
“Selene Everly Bleu,” I began and watched my name type out swiftly on the screen. “Your name is now Sapphire.”
“Sapphire. Accepted.”
Asher seemed intrigued with my name choice as I glanced back at him and grinned.
“What? Ruby and Sapphire,” I offered, and that only made his grin widen.
“I should have guessed,” he hummed as Sapphire beeped.
“Registration complete. Welcome to my new system, Master Selene. The sunset is upon us, and I sense an unidentified source of the power lurking near the garage.”
“That means we gotta go,” Alpha Axel noted as he lowered Juniper so she could stand on her feet.
“Enemy!”Juniper declared as if ready to go fight.
"Hold on,” Alpha Asher encouraged before he peered down at me. “I think I have a good idea,” he offered. I was all ears. “Let’s ride first. Before we reach the portal, there’s a tunnel that takes about a minute to go through at standard speed. On our bikes, it’ll probably take thirty seconds, but that’s more than enough time for us to swap.”
“And then?” I offered. “Do we stop, summon Axel and Juniper, and then stand there?”
“No. We’re going to hold hands and I’ll port us to Nyx’s place. The moment I’m about to do it, you release Juniper and Axel will be present in my place.”
He looked to the two in question before continuing.
“Axel, go through the portal with Juniper and let Azu know we’re taking our vacation early. Encourage Tobias, Kenzo, and Cinder to remain in Faerie for the time being. It’ll benefit us seeing as the shadow realms run on a similar time frame as them. Once you deliver the message, port to where I am with Juniper in tow. We should be done with the introduction with Nyx by then.”
“Understood,” Axel replied and looked to Juniper. “Rest up, Little Wolf. We’re going on a date the moment Ma Selene summons you,” he stated with a wink.
“Date!”She beamed and suddenly blushed as if she was only figuring out the word.“Bye.”
She was crashing back into me a second later, leaving Axel to chuckle as he moved his hands behind his head.
“Aww. My Little Wolf has become shy.”
“You really like her,” I quietly acknowledged and watched the tenderness that formed on his face.
“I do. No denying it.” He shrugged. “I’m disappearing to prepare. Good luck, you two.”
He was gone just like that, leaving me with Asher, who turned his attention to me.
“You follow my lead the entire way, and if things suddenly get messy, we don’t deter from the plan.”
“Why do I feel that you anticipate things to get messy?” I asked, back to admiring my bike as I touched the fine, cold surface.
“Anything involving a certain Bleu pup means my ass is getting in trouble,” Asher noted and offered me my helmet. “Strap it on.”
