The con circuitwas fast paced and we weren’t even through half of it. The day in and the day out could be grueling, but we visited six cities over the course of seven weeks. There was a week break halfway through, between Chicago and Boston.

The con days ran Thursday through Sunday so it was nice to have a couple days at the beginning of the week for ourselves.

Our last day in Portland had gone as smoothly as possible, even making it to the panels on time. But between the autographs, meet and greets, panels and photo ops, I hadn’t seen much of Lucy since our kiss.

Going back to my room that night on cloud nine, I kicked myself for not having exchanged numbers with her. I’d completely forgotten, despite my mental note.

When would she make it to Seattle? Did she fly in the same day as me or was she on a completely different schedule?

I could ask Liam if he still had E’s number, but I really didn’t feel like getting my balls handed to me. All I could do was wait to see her again at the con, or if I was lucky, at the hotel.

Monday came and went with no sign of Lucy. Or E for that matter. Liam and I passed the time doing a little sightseeing downtown and taking a cruise around Puget Sound.

After dinner, I called it a night and headed back to my room. We had an early call in the morning and I always liked to be rested for interviews.

Chet had arranged for me to appear onWaking up With Whitney, a Seattle morning show. Deciding it would be better to have the core cast all together, Liam, Lauren and Rodney, who played the villain, were also booked.

United front, Meryl reminded me.Better for ticket sales if they see you all together, she drove home.

And better for local ratings, I thought to myself. It was fine though; I never minded doing press interviews.

The hosts were always prepped beforehand (thanks to our assistants) about off limit topics and questions, but inevitably they’d sneak one or two in.

The movie was set to release at the end of September, so I banked on the notion that we’d get asked about spoilers or anything else we could share. It was a business for both parties involved and there was always a bit of push and pull.

Even though it was the middle of July, Seattle proved to be a tad chilly early in the morning. I shrugged on my leather moto jacket over my hooded shirt, ran my hand through my hair and decided I looked presentable enough. The hair and makeup team would fix anything they deemed unworthy of the camera lens anyhow.

The ride to the studio was less than ten minutes, the traffic being rather light that time of morning. The sun had risen already but the city was cast in a brightness that hadn’t been present in Portland.

Maybe it was the vibrant hues from the waterfront reflecting off the tall buildings or the fact that there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. But whatever the reasoning, I wished Lucy was here to see it with me.

Liam clapped his hands loudly behind me, shaking me out of my thoughts.

“Dude, no way man,” he hollered at Rodney. “I’m telling you, less than five minutes…”

I couldn’t see Rodney’s face behind me in the car but I gave Lauren a sideways glance, the two of us smiling.

Rodney was British. His accent was low and posh and he countered Liam with, “That’s where you’re wrong. I’m telling you mate, it will be towards the end of the interview.”

Lauren spoke up next. “Children,” she chided affectionately, “does it really matter what part of the interview she’ll ask for spoilers?”

“Yeah, why do you always have to bet on it?” I seconded.

Liam snorted. “’Cause.”

Rodney shifted in his seat. “Passes the time.”

“But we’re already at the studio,” Lauren reasoned. “You grow bored in ten minutes?” She held up her hand to silence them. “You know what, don’t answer that.”

We all piled out of the SUV and took the elevators from the parking garage of the channel 4 building up to the main floor.

Somewhere behind us, Meryl trailed along with the other assistants, each of them busy on their phones.

Forty-five minutes later, we were all out of hair and makeup and each of us were getting mics clipped to our clothing.

Whitney’s assistant approached, going over the rundown of the schedule with us. “Whitney will come on, go over the morning news and weather, then after commercial break, she’ll introduce you all,” she recited while glancing at her clipboard and then her smart watch.

“Easy peasy,” Liam jested.
