I couldn’t stop trembling as Nix slowly undressed me. How he could see well enough in the dark was beyond me, but from the way his fingers moved expertly over my body, he seemed to be having little issue.

“Much better,” he said, brushing his fingertips down my stomach.

“You still have your jeans on.”

“If you want them off, take them off, B.”

My blood heated at the challenge in his words. It wasn’t an order; I knew if I didn’t want to go any further, he would pull me down on the bed, wrap me into his arms, and let me sleep.

But I didn’t want to stop, and I didn’t want to sleep, despite how high I was. My hands went to his waistband and I popped the button, shoving my hands inside and pushing them down his hips. It required a little help from Nix but we got there.

“I wish I could see you.” I sighed.

“Here.” He took my hand in his, stretching my pointer finger and tracing it along his abs, the narrow dip of his obliques. Nix mapped his body with my hand, letting me feel every dip and groove, every rock hard muscle, the slightly blemished skin denoting his tattoos.

Closing my eyes, I pictured him. Strong and tall and ripped and beautiful.

Nix had always been the most beautiful boy I’d ever seen.

He rested our joined hands on his chest, right over his heart. “This is yours, B. It always has been. Promise me you’ll take care of it.”

“I promise.” The words caught in my throat.

“I don’t have much, but no one will ever love you the way I do. You’re my girl. My best friend. My forever.” He ran his thumb along my jaw, letting it linger on my bottom lip. I couldn’t breathe, couldn’t force air into my lungs because he’d stolen it all.

“Lie with me, B.”

“Okay.”

Nix pulled the sheets back and climbed into bed, shuffling toward the wall to give me enough space to get in beside him.

“One day it won’t be like this,” he said. “One day, we’ll have our own place, a better place.”

His words made my heart race.

I wanted that—God, I wanted it so badly. But Zane’s warning from earlier refused to leave my mind.

“Come here,” Nix draped his arm over my hip and yanked me closer. “I don’t bite.”

Face to face, we lay there in the dark, breathing each other’s air. The faint din of the music drifted into the room, mimicking the erratic beat of my heart.

Nix traced the lines of my face, ghosting his fingertips over my cheeks, my nose, and brows. “I can’t believe you’re here,” he whispered, burying his hand in my hair and guiding my face down to him.

His kiss started off uncertain, lazy and unhurried. Our tongues tangled, licking and tasting. It had a drugging effect, lulling me into utter serenity. But it quickly became something else entirely. Nix moved closer, pulling me flush with his body so that every inch of him was pressed up against every inch of me. He slid one of his legs between mine and I whimpered, feeling him hard and ready at the apex of my thighs.

He kissed me harder, all teeth and tongue and total lack of restraint until I felt like I was burning up. “Fuck, B,” he hissed, hooking my leg higher over his hip so that he could grind into me. Nothing but the thin layers of our underwear separated us.

“Slow… we can take it slow,” he mumbled to himself.

But this didn’t feel like taking things slow, it felt like tumbling headfirst into things. Fast and wild and unstoppable.

And I wanted that—I wanted him again.

“Nix,” I moaned, trying to pull his weight onto me. “I need—”

“Fuck,” he grunted, and not in a good way.
