“Iwasn’t certain it would ever happen.” Toro claps me on the shoulder.

“You thought I’d never find a woman who would marry me?”

“No. That you’d never find one who would marry you for the right reasons.”

He lifts his glass to mine, and we toast.

The reception is elegant and luxurious, the opposite of the chapel’s gaudy vibe.

“Are you missing the birds?”

Toro flaps his arms like wings, and I think of the doves from the ceremony.

“I am not,” I promise.

Not until Toro holds up his phone, displaying a photo of Raegan and I right after being married. My chest expands with satisfaction.

“Family brings happiness,” he says solemnly.

“I already have a family.” I draw him in with one arm. “But it’s good to have more.”

When I release him, his eyes shine with tears he’ll never shed in public.

I excuse myself and head toward Jax Jamieson across the room.

“Congratulations,” Jax says. “Have you met my wife, Haley?”

“At Tyler and Annie’s wedding.” I smile at the dark-haired woman at his side, warm and confident. If it’s difficult to hold your own next to the biggest rock star the world has ever seen, she manages it with grace to spare, especially with the little boy tugging at her hand.

“Mommy, come dance with me.” The child nods toward the DJ booth where the man my wife has always looked up to, one who’s played the biggest clubs in the world—including mine—agreed to play on short notice.

“That’s a big ask. Mommy wore heels all day instead of Chucks and will be regretting it in another hour,” she teases. “What kind of dancing?”

The toddler drops his mother’s hand and weaves back and forth in time to the music. Haley and Jax exchange a look of amusement and love.

“Well, I can’t say no to that,” she decides.

“Ditto. I’ll be right there, Hales.” Jax brushes his lips over his wife’s before she takes Mason’s hand and tugs him toward the dance floor.

Jax watches them go as if half his heart is across the room. “I can see from today’s events that you’re a man of action. Bodes well for our partnership.”

I won’t spend the night of my wedding talking business, but on the dance floor, Rae is occupied dancing with Annie and Elle and Callie. My wife grabs Natalia on her way past and drags her in. The five of them are laughing.

“You might not think so when you hear what I have to say.” He cocks his head. “I want to help with your artists’ development. But I want to give them more time. We can support them, but I’m not willing to rush them.”

“I started in the business early. We both did.”

“Because we had to.”

I outline my ideas in brief, still thinking of everything I’ve learned this week—and from my wife over the past three years.

Jax considers. “Your plan requires additional time, and time is money.”

“I’m willing to help with that too.”

“You’re in the venue business, Harrison. You own the clubs, not the talent.”
