“I won’t take you home. Hallow’s not there.”

“I can take you back to Royal Road, but Hallow’s not there, either.”
“Where is he?”
“He’s back from Arkansas but still looking for you.”
“Alone?”
“Nah. He’s got a crew with him.”
“Y’all wouldn’t let me leave if I wanted to,” Eve joked.
“That’s bullshit, Eve. You should know by the situation with your brother, the Gods sure as hell wouldn’t be taking you on a joy ride. They want to punish us by harming you. Your dad, Fighting Cock means nothing to them. Killer said so himself. Apparently, your brother who had to have been only a prospect didn’t mean shit either. Did their President know about this?”
“I don’t know. When I called Hob, I didn’t know he had anything to do with them. I thought he was still in college. He pulled the wool over my eyes.”
“You want to leave Hallow and leave this club, that’s your choice. You’ll pay the cost. Remember, I made a deal with Leviathan for you. You’re safe here.”
